CRIME WEEK! Episode 2-Osama bin laden

We all know who he is, the man who master minded the 9/11 attack’s and dozens of others. He’s the man behind the terrorist group Al-Queda. But who is Osama bin laden? Why did he do what he did? Who what when are where? Osama bin laden was born in 1957, he was the only child of Mohammed Awad bin Laden and his tenth wife Alia Ghanem. He was born and raised in Riyadh Saudi Arabia and attended Al-Thagher model school which was considered the best school in Riyadh at the time. At age 14 the school recognized Osama as a gifted student and put him in a program for extra credit. The group of students were tasked with memorizing the Quran, Not an easy task most Muslims only know about 15-20 of the 120 passages(generally the shorter ones as well). How ever the group quickly fell off from its original purpose and the teacher began to give the groups a radical education. Influenced bu the sect of Islam known as the brother hood the teacher instructed the teens that instituting a “pure Islamic rule of law” in the Islamic law is of most importance. After years of this Osama and his pupils had become typical examples of Muslim actisvists, growing long beards and dressing as the prophet did. By age 18 Osama was married and after graduating he went to the university to study civil engineering. Where it all went wrong.... In 1979 the USSR invaded Afghanistan. It is at this point to the radical education he was given got the resources to flourish. Osama joined to Peshawar resistance and began fighting the Soviets believing it was his “holy duty as a Muslim”. With money and aid from the CIA under “Operation cyclone” he started training Mujahideen fighters. When he returned to Saudi Arabia in 1989 he was welcomed a hero, with the US referring to his group as freedom fighters. All this changed soon after. Osama became irradiated with the Saudi government and what he saw as an American occupation of Saudi during he gulf war. Osama began speaking out against the government and was eventually banished to Sudan in 1992. The beginning of something terrible... By 1993 Osama used his connections to form a network of militant Muslims that he met during the war. He called it Al-Qaeda (Arabic for “the base”). Their goal was to take up the jihadist cause around the world at To right wrongs under pure Islamic law. They decided to go about it by funding and committing terrorist attacks around the world. By 1994 the Saudi government forced him to give up His citizenship and his family disowned him, cutting off Osamas 7 million dollar yearly stipend. This didn’t phase Osama and he and continued in his plans to draw the US into a war with the goal of creating a unified Muslim world to combat the west. After being exiled from Sudan he moved to Afghanistan where he revived protection from the taliban. In 2001 he masterminded the 9/11 and was hunted down by American forces for 10 years. And in 2011 after hiding in Pakistan for years was found and killed by American forces. Osama bin laden was criminal mastermind who killed thousands of people and committed dozens of attack’s in the name of an extremist Version of Islam. He stood for death and destruction and nothing more. His legacy left a stain on Islam and darkened this world even now. In the words of Former president obama
his demise should be welcomed by all who believe in peace and human dignity.
Thanks for reading this second installment of Crime week! This one was slightly different but I found his story interesting. If you have any suggestions or criticism that would be welcome. I have also added a tag Incase y’all want to see each one.
