1. Log into your wireless router and make sure there isn’t some janky firewall or weird program. 2.If you’re hardwired in try to use a cord no longer than 6ft and make sure it’s a quality cord. (yes, a cheap cord can be a huge unpredictable pain in the rear end) 3. Make sure there is no priority settings on. 4. A separate set of modem and router is always better than a hybrid, but companies that make routers that they sell for under 100$ operate like a shoe factory: it’s very possible the modem is slightly damaged and the download/Upload going through pushes it to reset. (So a last resort might be taking them both back to trade in for a new pair of the same thing) Also, Microsoft’s consoles are polished turds that do not contain half the components they claim to. Go PC or Sony. Much less issues.

Haha thank you for the small laugh there. I really needed that. I have posted an update, but I will respond to you with my findings. 1. I do not have any janky firewalls, so I guess that's good. 2. Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury of having less than a 14ft cord because of the set-up of my apartment. However, I have never had any issues with these cords. Good quality too. 3. I don't think there are priority settings on? Personally, I've never messed with that. 4. I spent $300 on equipment. That was for both modem and router. I bought a Netgear Nighthawk and an Arris brand modem with 32 downstream channels. Both are actually made for up to a Gigabit connection. I had been renting equipment from my ISP up until 2 weeks ago when I bought my own to save some money on my internet bill. I have a PS4, but one closer to the original release of them, so it doesn't connect to the 5G side of my router. And I'm still working on getting the parts together for a really beefed-up PC.

  • If you have that good of a quality router why don’t you run wireless? I know for a fact a 14ft hardwire will cause problems. We’ve (former cable company employee) run tests on this time and time again. Priority settings can allow other devices to hog your band. It’s doubtful this is your problem but I’ve seen it happen before where the console struggles to maintain a good connection because of another device and goes from strong connection to completely dropped in an instant
If you have that good of a quality router why don’t you run wireless? I know for a fact a 14ft hardwire will cause problems.
The reason why I have a 14ft hardwire is because that's what it takes to run the wire out of the way of stepping on it. My Xbox is close enough to the router that it may have issues disconnecting from Wi-Fi every so often, this due to the signal between both occasionally interfering, which I have personally had issues with in previous years before living in an apartment. I've had this 14ft cable for a little over half a year. Never have had any issues. And that was even with the hybrid gateway I was renting from my ISP. I say that as far as that is concerned, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Priority settings can allow other devices to hog your band.
Then I definitely do not have any priority settings on this router. Destiny was the only game, or app for that matter, on any device, giving me issues suggesting that something was wrong.
