A Viable Alternative to Static Rolls and Random Rolls

I would rather Bungie implement an -ACTUAL- crafting system in the Destiny franchise, not just Destiny 2. In the world(s), you get various "spare parts" from the weapons that you break down. From Auto Rifles, you get the various parts to an Auto Rifle. From Scouts, you get various types of Scout parts, etc., etc. From Boss-level enemies and Loot (from Public Events, Lost Sectors, Strikes, Raids, etc.); you get the parts that give the Perks to weapons, Elemental Damage, etc. Then; the players can visit a crafting station at the Gunsmith, and go through the various parts, crafting their own desired weapons with the Perks and Mods that they see fit. They can color the individual parts of the weapons at these stations as well (which gets us away from the atrocious Shaders in D2...), and the Players can craft the weapons that would be perfect for their individual Guardians. Edit = And whne I say you get parts, I mean you get -PARTS-. Different barrels, weapon bodies, triggers, Stocks/Grips, Ammunition Capacities, etc. Swords would be able to get different Blades, Hilts, Guards, Sheaths, etc. Sure, that's quite a lot of different types of parts to collects, especially in a game with piss-poor storage spaces. But let them stack, and give us a goddamn -SIGNIFICANT- increase in Vault space. Allow us to stack up to 999 of each type of spare part, and give us at a minimum of ten different varieties for each part. I don't think you guys at Bungie realize it, but if you do the math correctly, that's literally hundreds of thousands of different possible combinations of weapons. It would be a massive sell to people, and would keep players contently plugging away at your game for literally years. (As long as you don't remove it from the goddamn game with Destiny 3, that is...) This is something, like MMORPG's and other Open-World Online-Only games discovered literally decades ago: If you give Players a deep, engrossing activity like this; they'll stay with your game happily grinding and crafting, for months and months and months and months, etc., etc. *** Disclaimer: I purposefully left Armor crafting out of this post because... ARMOR. DOES. NOTHING. IN. DESTINY 2. !!! Thus, there would be zero point to crafting armor. *** Now, I know this is a wild idea and all; because having actual Weapon Crafting in Shared-World-Online-Only games has only been around for 20+ years in these types of games. And I know it's a bit much to ask Bungie to adopt Crafting Systems of any sort since they're so new to the industry. But I know that if Bungie would take a chance, and actually put one of these new-fangled "Crafting Systems" into their game, then it would add a lot of depth to Destiny 2. But, with the "Weapon Crafting System" technology still so new and untested in Video Games, I understand if they're a bit skittish about putting such a new concept into Destiny 2.
Who the -blam!- am I kidding!? Bungie will never implement this, because they're so goddamn -TERRIFIED- of breaking their precious "balance", that they won't ever even entertain the idea of actual goddamn crafting in this franchise. Bungie: You're all a bunch of scared little pussies. Your "balance" has made the game boring, and your game is shit-tier because of it.
But I think that if Bungie could sit down, and look at these newly dreamed up "In-Game Crafting Systems", then developers of their caliber might just be able to streamline it for the whole video games industry, which could add magnitudes of depth to this whole industry for years and decades to come.

  • You're asking this of a company that can't make individual playlists for PvP game modes anymore...

    • I assume you also play warframe? Literally near the exact same as warframe crafting right here.

        • Why do people bother suggesting ideas to Bungie? We all know A. they don't listen and B. they just implement the worst of the ideas the monkeys in their studio come up with, throwing the great ideas away!

          • What Bungie doesn't realize, is that this kinda thing is great for longevity, it's practically it's own content. See, when content gets hard to make, this is the kinda thing that can satiate "hobbyists." Add new mods with each expansion and put better mods in endgame content. It's not always about how much you put out, but rather what you do with it that counts.

            • It's a great idea, but we'd have to carry around hundreds of weapon parts and bungie would only give us 36 slots to put them all in.

              • I would say don't have all weapons like that but allow us to have a themed type weapon that can do that. That would be Cool. Example: The Reward for completing DLC 2 is a Taken type gun and some Souls of Light (item similar to masterwork shards) You can receive more Souls of Light by doing almost anything but they drop the Most while completing Nightfalls, Trials, and Raid. Then you can take your Weapon to a Shrine that is now at the tower. Then you can spend The Souls of Light to change the Weapon. The Upgrades and Their Costs New Frame Gives you another gun that can be modified. Max of 5 per Character 25 Souls of Light Change Weapon Type Example: switch from handcannon to sidearm or auto rifle 10 Souls of Light Change Weapon Stats All starting frames have baseline stats. You can then modify each stat the higher you are in one area the lower you have to go in another to balance it out. 1-5 Souls of Light depending on how much was changed Add or Change Perks You have all the normal perks to choose from after Unlocking them 7 Souls of Light per Perk Perks are unlocked by Completing Tasks Example: Defeat 100 enemies with Headshots Or you can spend 10 Souls of Light unlock it instantly

                • Yea i can see this... as long as their is some form of grinding involved then im okay with it... btw most of the people who play this game like grinding as its a looter shooter (and its supposed to be fat pased so idk why bungie is making it slower in D2) so the random roll would also be fine as long as most of the loot comes from strikes pike the strike specific rewards... OOOOH i just thought what about strike specific crafting parts to craft strike specific gear?

                  • This is a fantastic idea. But it's going to take time and skill, and unfortunately.
Making content is too hard! WAH!
However, Chris Barrett is cool. I like that guy, and the music/level designers, and maybe Dmg04 as well. The rest are awful.
KUPO!!!™
