The Development Update dropped as expected; and as I expected, it was loaded with pure garbage.
Hm.
There's some people I've seen who seem to think that these are going to be "major, game changing changes!!!"
As far as Destiny 2 goes, it is game changing.
What is there to be "happy" about in that thinly-veiled PR bullshit?
You can be happy that they've finally given us something, and all of it seems to be steps in the right direction.
So we should praise them for adding in features that were in the prequel, stripped from the sequel, and then they're making their Players pay for those features again?
I don't think you're gonna have to pay for any of the updates that are listed in the blog post. Because they are updates, not paid DLC.
Nevermind that none of what Barrett posted fixes any of the core issues with the game. They're merely cosmetic "surface" fixes, which will still not fix the bleeding-out of their player population.
Adding back 6v6 is a cosmetic fix? Private matches? Ranked Crucible? Strike Scoring? Removing the nightfall timer?
The game will still play like trash. Armor is still broken down to nothing more than a cosmetic skin for your character, with zero game mechanic effects. Weapons are still going to feel like you're shooting nothing more than harsh language at your enemies
Masterwork armor that give you a reduction when using your super? And you can re-roll the stat types now? And raid armor will gain raid specific perks and mods are getting a re-work in general to make more of an impact on weapons? And they said that weapon archetypes will be emphasized more?
(all because of their boring, precious, PvP "balance". Balance is goddamn boring in a loot-shooter like this, Bungie!)
But People wanted the Lens nerfed, and MIDA, and Uriel's, and auto rifles in general, and pulses.
Not to mention, they're -STILL- funneling players back to the Eververse again and again. Barrett tried to hide it with clever double-speak, but the end-game goal is still the Eververse in Bungie's mind. They moved a few categories of loot (ships, sparrow, ghost shells) to end-game activities, but notice that there's no mention of slowing the rate of Eververse inventory increases. They're still going to be pumping more and more loot into the Cash Shop, at the expense of making any sort of deep, engaging, time-intensive PvE content.
This is a touchy subject. Yes, I am against Eververse and microtransactions, but the blog post is at least a step in the right direction. More direct purchase options, less likely to get duplicates, easier to earn MTX engrams through milestones and such, yadda yadda yadda. I'd like to see Tess gone period, but..
This was nothing more than damage control through a shit post, in regards to a game that will continue to be shit.
You know, when I think a game is shit and don't care about the future of it or any plans, I stop playing/associating with it completely. Examples include: CoD, Battlefield, Battlefront, Gears of War 4, The Division, For Honor, Evolve, etc etc etc.
So, the fact that you made this post is evident that you do like and care about this game in some way and would like to see it grow. People are not this passionate about things they do not like. Take a break from D2, come back when the updates hit.
Why?
I don't know.
Because Bungie is incapable of fixing the core design flaws that they made in this game.
I would continue to debate your argumentative post, but you just ramble on in a biased manner and you mention Eververse again and I already hit that point above.
This game deserves to die the slow, bleeding death that it currently is suffering due to developer indifference and stupidity.
What forum will you complain on when this one dies?

I believe armour becoming good when I see it. An extra point in one of the crappy 3 stats won't do it, so Masterwork is out the window for relevant armour. And if the Raid gear perks are only good for raiding... What's the point? Make the raid even easier? Cool. We'll see, but I won't hold my breath.
And if the Raid gear perks are only good for raiding... What's the point? Make the raid even easier? Cool.
That's how raid armour has been designed since Vault of Glass.
-
I know and I wasn't too hot about that either. Now the weapon perks against Hive back in The Dark Below, that was some GOOD shit.

Hardcore Bungie fanboy here wow

Edited by bulltaylorgamers: 1/13/2018 5:24:11 PMGlad to see I’m not the only one who found the post a step in the right direction. It’s hard to find any positivity in these forums, so your comment is much appreciated. Edit: just read my own post. I sound way to formal lol

"You can finally be happy that they've given us something." Really? Are you a dog? Do you appreciate when your master gives you a scrap off of his table. Most people who are mad are that way for a very good reason. Most of them shelled out $170 for what amounted to a 3 year paid Beta testing sessons that was D1, only to have Bungie totally scrap that and give them the mess that is D2.

Edited by Atomic: 1/13/2018 4:32:48 PMI agree that Bungie is incapable of fixing this game as much as I would like to see them do that. Bungie built this game off of the PvP first principle that they've always used. Until they get rid of the shitty two primary system and decrease the ttk this game will still feel like shit. This update may have been a step in the right direction but it will take multiple to the end of the year to implement just these changes alone even though there is so much more in the game. It will take years to fully restore this game. They also need to address making sure that the best loot drops from trials and the raid and iron banner. Public events do not belong in the endgame.
-
But nothing about lost loot caves or adventures...this was touched upon last year but no mention since..when I look at a character I don't look at armor or their pretty ornaments..I look at their weapon loadout and power level..things that matter..who cares about who looks the prettiest.
-
Everyone cares about appearance, just to varying degrees. That shouldn’t detract from more quantifiable stats and interesting abilities. There’s no reason that we can’t have good perks and aesthetics.
-
While you make good points the division isn’t actually bad anymore. Goobisoft has actually made it what it should have been. The survival DLC is hella fun and the 1.8 free update added essentially a horde mode. If you still have it, I’d retry it. Sincerely someone who used to hate the division
-
Yeah, I've been thinking about re-trying the Division myself. Haven't played a lick of it since launch, but I hear it's amazing now.

Lmfao go back to writing your Destiny school fan fiction stories fanboy
-
Lol can’t help but read all of your replies in the most snide and douche voice.
-
If you're still on the forums after all this, you're just as much as a fanboy as I am.
-
Nah I’m only here to watch this dumpster fire of a forum burn
-
Of course you are. Stay cool, kiddo.

Cool as a cucumber my friend

lol^^ thought the same before^^

Great post. Pretty much took apart his rant piece by piece.
