This was well written, and a good story. I'm aware you admitted it was sloppy and you can do better so I won't go into that stuff. What I will say is that open ended stories with a cliffhanger are rarely good enough. It says to most readers that you don't know how to end your story so you "haven't bothered" for lack of better words. I would almost always recommend putting something at the end, even if it takes you years to figure out what that something should be.

Just posted another one. I'm working on a very long one atm. But it won't be finished for another week or two. This isn't the one that is going to take a while though. This one is short compared to the one I'm working on currently. This one was already finished. It is an improvement over this one. But you should be blown away by the one I'm currently working on. It'll be done in about two weeks.

Thanks for the feedback. One of my favorite classes in high school was English and Creative Writing. I love writing, this was something small and simple. I have a very creepy idea that I'm working on. a lot more scary, and original. I'm waiting until it's perfect(IMO) before I post it.

  • Sounds good. Be careful when waiting for a project to be perfect though. I promise it never will be. What I normally do is write it, then edit it. Wait a couple of months (you can work on something else in this time) and then edit it again. That's your first draft. Second draft is where you share it with someone (or on here) for feedback. Third or fourth draft for a professional review. Even on the tenth draft though, you'll be finding things you can do better, so you need to decide when it's perfect enough, rather than when it's perfect.

Appriciate the advice. These will only be short stories though. So they won't take months. It will however take about a week. I want it to be very suspenceful. Letting the people reading open up their imaginations. It's set in Myrtle Beach. That's all I'll say.

  • I didn't mean the edits would take months, that's just the recommended time to wait between edits/drafts. The beauty of this place is that you can post early drafts anonymously and for free so edits aren't as important. I look forward to reading your future stuff though.
