I think Bungie could have done better l. D2 feels like a shallow money grab to me. Great gameplay as D1 but it’s not really anything deeper. The creativity went into Micro transactions and marketing - not the game.

 • I totally see where you are coming from, and I think that the reason it feels like a shallow money grab to you(and a lot of others) is because of the sheer amount of things in the Eververse store that you cannot get anywhere else. It seems to be the majority of the end game content, which is (?) true for most players. It takes a lot of work to make a game, and Destiny 2 is no exception. But, I think that the marketing power of Activision has obscured what Destiny 2 is to the consumer. The reason micro transactions are in games is simple, and I am personally behind them fully. Think about it, AAA games have been at the price of $60 for the past 10 years. However, the cost and technology associated with making them has only increased in price. This means that the people making these games have been making less and less total revenue as time goes on, and need an alternative source of income (micro transactions / paid DLC). Companies are afraid that if they raise the price of a $60 game to say, $70, in order to remove micro transactions, then nobody would actually buy the game. I do agree that the way that micro transactions have been handled in Destiny was poor, but I don't think that it is a reason to hate the game. - BenjaFriend <3

 • I don't hate the game, …it should have been better, it still plays well though. I'm just disappointed with Bungie. I think micro transactions are ok if they help support a better gaming experience. I think Bungie made better games before they introduced micro transactions. D2 is all about micro transactions and it's a full priced AAA game, however the game is terribly mediocre and in parts broken. So your argument is horse manure.

 • I think that a lot of people (myself included) are disappointed in Bungie and how they have handled micro transactions. However, I don't think that micro transactions are the change that made the game feel bad for some people. I think that blame would fall more towards Activision forcing their hand a bit more then they should have in order to get content shipped. - BenjaFriend <3

 • I don’t hate micro transactions, and I love Destiny even with Eververse - I once paid for the Jazz Hands emote. No regrets, used it in Crucible all the time, I miss it actually. I just think that if the Eververse was there to raise more capital for a bigger better game, than fine. However, what if feels like is Eververse is there to manipulate and milk money from a franchise that’s getting worse... Dunno how to explain it better: If bigger Eververse = a better game, than 👍 But we got - Eververse = worse game 👎 I thought Bungie were uncompromising artists with a vision for gaming Gaming in general is a giant 🖕to creative integrity

 • I see what you are saying now, and I agree. I'm not sure what you mean by gaming being a middle finger to creativity, though. I think that the reason AAA games are feeling stale and not creative is because at the end of the day, games are a business. And the people in charge of the money (publishers) do not want to take risks with extremely innovative gameplay mechanics or designs because they want sales. They know what sells, and they want to stick to it. There are tons of games out there that are extremely creative, artistic, and fresh. I would argue that video games are art in their own right to begin with. - BenjaFriend <3

 • Yeh.... I feel like an idiot. I preordered with the DLC’s and I really wish I hadn’t. Like you say, big games are a business and the only language that’s listened is anything that indicates a loss of revenue. Unfortunately, by the time those at the top of this stifling food chain see there’s a loss of revenue, the game has died.
