Hello Guardians,
What I am going to present is an idea and series of ideas I have had for a while that I would love to share with the Community and see how they can evolve and grow. I’m not a lore expert, but I am fascinated by the stories within Destiny’s universe, in particular what was in the grimoire regarding events before we were awoken by our Ghost. Although other video games have been getting movies, I personally believe Destiny’s story would be better told through a Netflix series that would allow the sort of long-form story-telling that can flesh out characters and immerse viewers in the world.
My goal for this thread is for ideas to flow freely, for my personal knowledge of Destiny’s universe and lore to grow, and for a potential outline of a series to develop. I will share my initial ideas below, and I would love for any feedback or additional ideas people may have to help grow this and expand upon what’s already there. If I have made a mistake regarding something in the lore, please correct me (but be kind about it, I am human). Thank you in advance for any contributions you make, and I can’t wait to see what the community may do with this!
Destiny Netflix Series, Season 1 Premise:
Season 1 will focus on the Golden Age immediately after the Traveler’s arrival, and will conclude with the Collapse unfolding over episodes 12 and 13, the season finale. Humanity will meet the Traveler on Mars, and after a montage showing basic advancements over the course of several years, the series will truly kick off.
The season will focus primarily on a 5-7 characters, with these being a few ideas so far:
-Willa Bray: An Indian female with a strong personality who will ultimately play a villainous role; the Mars civilization will be fleshed out through her experiences
-Carson Scott, A human African-American male (who will later become a Guardian in the future): Works as a mechanic; lives in an apartment; bitter about the international space program after being denied an opportunity to work on ships
-Pre-exo Cayde played by Nathan Fillion: Focus will be on his life with his wife and son, and his work that ultimately leads to debt owed to Bray.
-Dr. Shim: An Asian male, viewers will learn about the Venus civilizations and the Ishtar Collective through his experiences. Kind-hearted and eccentric, curious about alien life.
-Mara and Uldren Sov: An affluent British human female and her brother, Co-leaders of an international technology corporation
-The President of the United States (who will be female, and will ultimately die during the Collapse), member of the Humanity Leadership Counsel: Viewers will learn about how international and interplanetary politics work through her experiences. She will have encounters with Bray, Shim, and the Sovs at certain points throughout the season.
I will expand on further episode ideas if the Pilot sounds like a good launching point and edit the post accordingly
Episode 1, Pilot: The Traveler enters the Solar System. Humanity sends a team of astronauts to examine what is going on. The Traveler terraforms Mars, and the astronauts realize the air is breathable. A montage shows civilizations popping up on Mars with the Bray facility being constructed, how life is changing on Earth such as the human life-span growing exponentially, worldwide treaties being signed, etc, and then showing the developments on Venus with the construction of the Ishtar Academy. Warmind satellites are deployed on all of the destinations humanity inhabits. Main characters are introduced with their basic backstories being presented. Cayde brings home a surprise present for his son: A hoverboard, which seems a bit outside the family’s budget but he claims he was given a bonus at work to afford it. Carson comes home from a long day at the shop and goes out drinking and dancing with his friends; saves a woman from being sexually assaulted by another male at the bar and gets in a fight. The President announces the beginning of the Exodus project and meets with the HLC about its eventual deployment. The Sovs prepare to make their pitch for an AI technology to have aboard spacecraft, specifically Exodus ships. Dr. Shim shares with the team that they have acquired a Vex mind core to begin experiments on. End of the episode stinger implies that Willa Bray has been experimenting on humans as part of her research, revealed through a conversation with a member of the HLC.
If you took the time to read through this whole thing, I truly appreciate it. I obviously have not fully fleshed out the Pilot as it’s open to changes, but I hope it gave a general idea of where the series would go. I also took some creative liberties with character backstories and how some of them are connected. If you have any sort of feedback feel free to comment below!

I applaud your dedication but I only have one thing to say about Bungie titles being made into movies: Remember the Halo movie? Yeah, enough said.
