Destiny Netflix Series Premise and Brainstorm

Hello Guardians, What I am going to present is an idea and series of ideas I have had for a while that I would love to share with the Community and see how they can evolve and grow. I’m not a lore expert, but I am fascinated by the stories within Destiny’s universe, in particular what was in the grimoire regarding events before we were awoken by our Ghost. Although other video games have been getting movies, I personally believe Destiny’s story would be better told through a Netflix series that would allow the sort of long-form story-telling that can flesh out characters and immerse viewers in the world. My goal for this thread is for ideas to flow freely, for my personal knowledge of Destiny’s universe and lore to grow, and for a potential outline of a series to develop. I will share my initial ideas below, and I would love for any feedback or additional ideas people may have to help grow this and expand upon what’s already there. If I have made a mistake regarding something in the lore, please correct me (but be kind about it, I am human). Thank you in advance for any contributions you make, and I can’t wait to see what the community may do with this! Destiny Netflix Series, Season 1 Premise: Season 1 will focus on the Golden Age immediately after the Traveler’s arrival, and will conclude with the Collapse unfolding over episodes 12 and 13, the season finale. Humanity will meet the Traveler on Mars, and after a montage showing basic advancements over the course of several years, the series will truly kick off. The season will focus primarily on a 5-7 characters, with these being a few ideas so far: -Willa Bray: An Indian female with a strong personality who will ultimately play a villainous role; the Mars civilization will be fleshed out through her experiences -Carson Scott, A human African-American male (who will later become a Guardian in the future): Works as a mechanic; lives in an apartment; bitter about the international space program after being denied an opportunity to work on ships -Pre-exo Cayde played by Nathan Fillion: Focus will be on his life with his wife and son, and his work that ultimately leads to debt owed to Bray. -Dr. Shim: An Asian male, viewers will learn about the Venus civilizations and the Ishtar Collective through his experiences. Kind-hearted and eccentric, curious about alien life. -Mara and Uldren Sov: An affluent British human female and her brother, Co-leaders of an international technology corporation -The President of the United States (who will be female, and will ultimately die during the Collapse), member of the Humanity Leadership Counsel: Viewers will learn about how international and interplanetary politics work through her experiences. She will have encounters with Bray, Shim, and the Sovs at certain points throughout the season. I will expand on further episode ideas if the Pilot sounds like a good launching point and edit the post accordingly Episode 1, Pilot: The Traveler enters the Solar System. Humanity sends a team of astronauts to examine what is going on. The Traveler terraforms Mars, and the astronauts realize the air is breathable. A montage shows civilizations popping up on Mars with the Bray facility being constructed, how life is changing on Earth such as the human life-span growing exponentially, worldwide treaties being signed, etc, and then showing the developments on Venus with the construction of the Ishtar Academy. Warmind satellites are deployed on all of the destinations humanity inhabits. Main characters are introduced with their basic backstories being presented. Cayde brings home a surprise present for his son: A hoverboard, which seems a bit outside the family’s budget but he claims he was given a bonus at work to afford it. Carson comes home from a long day at the shop and goes out drinking and dancing with his friends; saves a woman from being sexually assaulted by another male at the bar and gets in a fight. The President announces the beginning of the Exodus project and meets with the HLC about its eventual deployment. The Sovs prepare to make their pitch for an AI technology to have aboard spacecraft, specifically Exodus ships. Dr. Shim shares with the team that they have acquired a Vex mind core to begin experiments on. End of the episode stinger implies that Willa Bray has been experimenting on humans as part of her research, revealed through a conversation with a member of the HLC. If you took the time to read through this whole thing, I truly appreciate it. I obviously have not fully fleshed out the Pilot as it’s open to changes, but I hope it gave a general idea of where the series would go. I also took some creative liberties with character backstories and how some of them are connected. If you have any sort of feedback feel free to comment below! SuperheroDeuce

  • If it's hbo or netflix yeah but no sorry they are swimming on the cash they got selling this scam, no money to waste on projects meant to solidify the community

  • Destiny writers can't produce enough dialogue to make a game that's worth playing (from a story aspect, this literally makes my top 10 list for most irrelevant story content in gaming history.) Don't get your hopes up they could do any meaningful writing for a series. A big part of why they removed lore from the game is so that people would stop pointing out when the game contradicts the lore. They aren't interested in good writing. They just want a game for you to mindlessly grind.

  • I don't think they could make a good tv series if they can't even have a good story in their game.

      • I'm sorry, but no. Not that they're listening, but don't give them even a remotely possible reason to be distracted from fixing thus dumpster fire of a game. Not to say your ideas are bad, just not now...

        • I applaud your dedication but I only have one thing to say about Bungie titles being made into movies: Remember the Halo movie? Yeah, enough said.

          • They don't even know what the story is anymore. That would be why the Osiris expansion tells nothing about Osiris.

            • I think an animated series would be best for destiny, as TV CG effects would be unable to capture the universe in the way that it deserves

            • First question: animated or live-action? And if animated, realistic CG or drawn? Second question: single, large, overarching plot? Or individual short stories told one or two episodes at a time?

                    • I like the idea for the show. Sounds very sound. I had an idea for a Destiny show for a bit. It's a drama like DC CW shows like The Flash set at a point prior to the Battle of Mara Ibrium and near the start of the Battle of the Burning Lake. It'll tell the story of Eriana-3 and her fireteam's fail mission to kill Crota (Which was something I thought could work well in a drama). The series would run for one or two seasons (Haven't quite thought how many episodes there could be) that would begin with Eriana's resurrection and journey to the City, encountering the Hive, Wei Ning and Pahanin at the Battle of the Burning Lake, joining the Guardian assault on Mara Ibrium, see Crota and his forces decimate the Guardians and killing Wei Ning, finding Eris, Toland and the other Guardians present in her Fireteam, descend into The Hellmouth where her team gets picked off one by one until only she and Eris remain, Eriana staying to hold off the Hive as Eris escapes where she is then cut down, with all of this ending with Eris speaking to an audio device as she leaves the City. Main characters would include: Eriana-3 Wei Ning Toland Eris Morn Pahanin Kabr Praedyth With cameos of characters seen in the game like Zavala, Ikora, Cayde, Shaxx, The Speaker, Osiris and Taeko. Additional Notes: Eriana and Wei Ning would have a relationship that would begin to grow until Mara Ibrium (Now before you get into a tizzy about this, it was mentioned in the lore tab of Eriana's ship, I'm simply expanding it). Pahanin would have a running gag where he would intentionally mispronounce Kabr's name to annoy him. There would be a narrator at the beginning of each episode which would be revealed to be Eris in the season finale.

                      • Then, after the show was finished they could do a Destiny related "Talking Dead" kind of thing where a bunch of whiny, self entitled millennials sit around and bitch about not having OP'd crutches to get them wins in PvP and call it the "B.Net".

                      • I think they already made a pre-exo Cayde show. Even Ikora was in it. It's called Firefly.

                      • I’m surprised there hasn’t at least been a novel or two written yet. So many other games have expanded on their lore with novels. I would be happy with that.

                        • I’d like to see a tv show or at least a book accounting for the events of just after the collapse up until our ghost finds us. Like maybe the closing shot could be a ghost talking with others and one asks “where will you search next?” And our future ghost replies with “The cosmodrome.”.
