I'm honestly thinking that the people who say Warframe is Pay-to-Win either: haven't played a pay-to-win game, or they have never played Warframe. Warframe isn't a pay-to-win game. At most, I would say that it's pay-to-look good, and even then, that's loosely putting it. Warframe does have a microtransactions portion of its game called the Market, and it does offer things that will get others ahead in the game, but it does not guarantee someone will "pay-to-win". When someone buys something from the Market, they can get a weapon or a warframe, but that warframe is no different than someone who grinds for the Warframe ingame (which, with Nekros, grinding is irrelevant with his Desecrate ability). DE also releases "Gift of the Lotus" events frequently enough that people will have enough golden and blue potatoes to not worry about running out of space for mods. If I had to give it to the people here who say "Warframe is a pay-to-win game" some defense though, the learning curve for Warframe is easily more difficult than the Destiny series. The beginning of the game is not meant for everyone, and it usually weeds out the less skilled players from the ones who want to learn to play the game. After a less-skilled player (like me!) gets past the learning curve, the game becomes absurdly simple to play. For the more impatient players who will refuse to sit down and learn to play the game, or sit down to grind the game, they can buy a warframe or weapon to just get past the grinding barrier/ Even with this though Warframe is not pay-to-win. I already mentioned this in a different thread, but free-to-play players can get some of the cosmetic stuff for free if they simply grind the game. It took a while, but when Baro Ki'Teer came out with Primed Flow recently, I dumped all the ducats, endo, and credits I had to get as many maxed out Primed Flows as I could and I sold them in the Trading chat. I made an equivalent to $50 real-world money in platinum in 5 minutes, and this is me as a player of Warframe who has not spent a single cent in this game. I went to town in the market buying cosmetics and colors, and now, I'm saving up platinum again to get that gundum-looking Nekros skin. But, back to the main point: The people who say Warframe is a pay-to-win game are separated into either of these two categories: They have never played Warframe in their life, or they have never played a pay-to-win game in their life. There's no gray zone in this, because I guarantee that anyone else who has played Warframe at least 100 hours will say the exact same thing I have said. On Steam alone, I have a little over 600 hours put into Warframe, and I've played it since before Specters of the Rail. Before Steam, I had only about 10-20 hours on Warframe. I know for sure that there has never been a "pay-to-win" aspect anywhere in this game. It could change in the future, but I can't see into the future.

  • I think you just don't know what pay to win is. If you can pay to make the game easier, the game is pay to win. There is no middle ground between pay to win and cosmetics. You can skip hours of grinding and waiting in Warframe by paying, which makes the game easier, therefore Warframe is pay to win.

Or, you could get Nekros, which is literally a rank 0 warframe, and then skip the entire grinding part without paying for a single thing. The good thing about Warframe is: The community is nice, and if you ask someone to carry you as a rank 0 to the Infested Lephantis run afew times to get the Nekros pieces, you can literally get rid of the grinding part of Warframe with that one warframe. Getting rid of the grind even faster if someone you know has Hydroid. Besides, I have over 600 hours of Warframe under my belt, and I have played other Play-to-Win games like Vindictus with a little over 400 hours on that. I'm confident that I know the difference between Pay-to-Win and a game like Warframe. But hey, how many hours have you had in the game? You must have over 700+ hours so you must know more about it than me. Edit: Btw, the last part isn't condescending. I'm literally asking you what do you know that I don't about Warframe? I've been around the block enough times on it, and the only things I haven't discovered fully yet are the fight against the Eidolon Teralyst.

  • Wow bro. Maybe next time if you do the post. :) But yeh, you've got some good points. Is it just me or do you notice that those who say WarFrame is pay to win also say that destiny is better? Because it make me think that is to with the higher skill curve in WarFrame and less abled players are instead looking for an excuse in which to slander the game rather than admit they couldn't get the hang of it.

  • I always compare warframe to destiny like this..... Warframe is the adult version of Destiny. Destiny was built for kids and casuals. Seriously, Destiny is waaaaay easier to play than Warframe in just about every aspect of the game. You can't expect Destiny casuals to prosper in Warframe. You have to work for it in Warframe!

  • They do tend to say it is better, usually encompassing the whole game series. I'll give it to them also that Destiny has a better PvP system and loot-based, but that's about it. Destiny has a better PvP system because that's what the game series is pretty much geared towards, with some PvE sprinkled on top. Warframe doesn't have a loot-based system, so there's no competition for that. Otherwise, PvE-wise, even though Warframe and Destiny have some okay storylines, Warframe takes the cake because their storyline is more fleshed out compared to pre-specters of the rail. Before Specters, there really was no story, but afterwards, while it's not great a storyline like Divinity, it still has meat on it; vanilla Destiny 2's story is better than vanilla Destiny 1's, but the storyline feels so shallow and bland. I didn't like the choice system we got in the War Within's update, but at least it was an attempt at trying. They had a great thing going with the "no light" part of Destiny 2, but then the good part of their whole storyline ended after only our guardian got the light back, so... the story just fell flat after the second mission. I haven't fallen asleep playing Warframe's story, but I did fall asleep a few times after the second mission for Destiny. I don't understand why they're comparing skill curves of the two games. Warframe has a much harder skill curve because new players have to learn how to move effectively, how to shoot, how to hack, and how to play stealthily for some missions. Destiny has an extremely low skill gap that is intentional to cater to casual players and competitive players. I was frustrated with Warframe for the first... 10 hours at max, mainly because it the game mechanics I didn't know about. I sucked at first, much like everyone else did, but I took the time to learn. Now, it flows somewhat naturally, though I need to remember that the movement controls are different than Destiny's. By the 100th hour of Warframe (using the number arbitrarily, but still a long enough time), if someone isn't used to the controls yet, I would suggest to look for a different game to play, because Warframe isn't the game for that person. For others who say they have played less than 100 hours, I encourage them to actually sit down and try to play the game longer rather than blindly saying that the game is bad, because less than 100 hours is not enough to form an opinion about a game that has that much content. Even at 600+ hours into this game, I haven't unlocked everything yet, especially with the new Plains update.
