Seriously how many times do we have to point out that Bungie is using Skinnerbox tactics to artificially prolong the lifespan of this IP? It's tragic and deplorable. Comparatively, check out the recent patch notes for Diablo 3; https://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/21115840/patch-261-now-live-10-24-2017 Concise, detailed changes some even with notes from the Devs (something Blizzard does quite a bit especially with Overwatch) and even if you don't play D3, hopefully you can appreciate the gist of that link. That is, a dev team committed to expanding player options, not restricting them at every turn. That's the real sin of Destiny, it's advertised as some awesome sandbox shooter where everyone can be a special snowflake when it reality, it's a stale, controlled environment that adheres to Bungie's strict, authoritarian vision. PvP's no different - oh sure, you have the illusion of choice, but I've never seen a PvP game where you're so forcibly incentivized to play to the meta. D2's just another in a long string of over-hyped AAA's that failed to deliver. And I don't say all this because I hate the franchise, just the opposite. I can't help but wonder how differently Destiny would be had they partnered with EA instead of Activision.

 • Bungie should have gone exclusive to Sony, with story plot, depth and writing from Naughty Dog.......and kept it the amazing concept that Bungie first envisaged!

 • I don't think ea would be much better tbh...

 • I've always felt like Destiny should shift towards either a Diablo/Borderlands style that's free to play (after you buy it I mean) has no weekly lockouts, all content viable and just showers you with loot (which would justify the RNG) and have the Raids in the game as a means to challenge PvE players and offer unique drops you can only get there etc; Or go full on MMO, possibly with a monthly subscription (I know people would rage over this but running games like these is not cheap) which would justify the weekly lockouts on end game activities. But that would also mean having a persistent world with everyone in it at once, designated worlds etc. and best of all, real-time events and an in-game economy. One thing I've always wanted to see was the actual state of the Destiny world changing based on player participation, i.e. if the playerbase on a given world ignores a particular planet for too long, the aliens just take over and even just going there becomes a battle (literally, as in using our ships to battle through a blockade in outer space so we can land and go on some kind of massive-scale quest to retake the planet). I mean imagine it, tens if not hundreds of Guardians banding together to take back a planet overrun by the Cabal or the Vex. That'd be AWESOME! I just don't like that Destiny is some weird hybrid of the 2 models as it just doesn't work all that well. It could, potentially, but they seem reluctant to make the necessary changes.

 • Yeah I totally agree that this game has great potential to become this brilliant mmorpg loot-shooter hybrid but in the end I think bungie were too ambitious and possibly forced by Activision to cut it down into the "shared-world-shooter it is today. The worst part about all this though is that as time goes on I don't think bungie is getting any closer to achieving that dream, if anything they're getting further away. This game is getting more and more mainstream to appeal to the casual community, for maximum profit and it'll eventually get to the stage where a lot of destiny's audience is the same as those who only play cod, fifa, etc until it all steamrolls into this annual money sucking black hole that never goes anywhere. At least that's what could happen if bungie continue to ignore their fan's feedback.

 • What I like about those notes, and many other MMOs, is that they give actual times and distances, not the "short time," "bonus chance to stun" kinda lingo we get from Bungie.
seriously, what is considered short, medium, and long range in Destiny? No one knows because there's no actual numbers...
• Don't forget our primary stats, which are vague as all hell. What does 1 point of mobility or resilience really give you? Or how about those mods that improve recharge times but don't state any actual values (thankfully ppl on YT tested this crap and having 2 recharge mods takes off a whopping 1.2 seconds roughly off your grenade or melee.... oh, joy...) I mean jesus blaming Christ, in year 1 you could see what your exact recharge rate was for your grenade and melee IN THE CHARACTER MENU. All you had to do was look at your STR/DIS and it would give you the recast based on what tier you were in. But even that was too convenient I guess and had to be taken away. Da fuq Bungie, honestly...

But yeah, there's never been any appreciable numbers to back up anything in this game. I made a post about this a while back, asking for actual values for everything. Got a canned response from Cozmo, but of course it went nowhere....smh
