Connection issues and freezes [partially solved]

mdogg#2318 Configuration Info CPU: I7-3770K GPU: GTX 970 RAM: 16GB GPU Driver Version: 388.00 Operating System: Windows 10 Pro - 1709 DxDiag: https://pastebin.com/EVaciPkt Issue Information Destination/Activity: ANY! Description: I was having trouble playing the game since the moment it launched. My friends jumped into the action right away but I had to restart the game, the b.net app and my PC before I was able to pass an infinite screen showing "connecting" in the lower left corner. While playing I had weird freezes every 45-60min which could be "fixed" by using alt+tab to get out of and back into the game. It was tedious but I could finally play with my friends. After some sleep I wanted to continue the game, but I ran into the connection issue again and this time I had to restart game, app and PC multiple times before I could connect into the game. But the problems didnt stop there, the freezes occured every 15-20min now and I could no longer just alt+tab back into the game. Now I received a BEE error everstime i tabbed back in and I was ported out of countless quest areas. It went from tedious to painfully unplayable! In an attempt to fix this, I followed simple reason and finally did that Windows update I was pushing back and I acquired the latest NVIDIA drivers. Following this update marathon I found myself completely unable to play at all. Countless tries of restarting the game, the b.net app, my pc and my router did not enable me to connect to the game at all. At this point I deciced to try to get help in here. After writing a very long and detailed report of my problems I submitted my post. Turned out my session had timed out and I had to login again. After clicking the symbol to login with b.net I was back into the fourms overview and my complete report was lost. This happened again, merely 10 minutes later after I had finished writing my report again. During this about 45min long process I kept the game running in the background, trying to connect. When I finally alt+tabbed back in , I was connected - just to mock me, I guess. I decided to give it another try and see if the updates fixed the freezes at least, but they did not fix anything at all. After less than 5 minutes of playtime it froze again. This is pretty much when I lost it and turned to blizzard for a refund. Lucky for you guys, I had put up your "great" game long enough to pass level 7 and thereby disqualify myself for a refund from blizzard. They suggested a couple of other stuff I should try but nothing got me back into game. Summary: - cant connect to the game - if i can, it freezes in unbearable intervalls Steps I tried to fix it: - restarted everything - updated windows and all drivers - tried a clean boot without any third party software - tried without any security software (srsly how can you recommend this to people???) - checked the gamefiles multiple times - reinstalled the game This is the first game I dared to preorder in a looooooong time... lesson learned!!! EDIT: I started the game, switch to windowed mode and watched it trying to connect while doing some other stuff. And after about half an hour I am finally logged in. Lets see how long it will take to freeze the game up in windowed mode. --> Didnt even make it onto a planet. Freeze -> BEE -> reconnect while I watched my ship approach the planet.

I was finally able to resolve the issue causing the game to freeze and drop the connection. It looks like the game polls my external hard drive while loading files. This lead to the game freezing until all my drive had awoken from stand-by. It caused a quick freeze when I just one connected, which did not freeze the game long enough to drop. When I had two or more drives connected, the delay would prolong until the point where the game's connection to the server timed out. Since I disconnected all external drives, I did not have a single freeze and was able to play just fine. The other issue is still persistent though. It takes between 5 and 25 minutes to connect the game in the first place. Still very annoying!
