There is actually a bug in the game right now, where Cayde's stashes are connected to the patrol loot limit thing, where if you open too many in a short period of time you don't get anything. This isn't supposed to be the case apparently. I've had decent luck with the stashes, however I also know that the Odds and Ends are more of little tidbits of lore (like the journal page) or throwbacks to the first game (the burnt celery).
