At the end of the Taken strike in the EDZ there's some supposedly "big reveal" that the boss is Red Legion. Leading to this conversation like, "Oh, how'd he get Taken if Oryx is dead? It must have been one of Oryx's sisters that's started getting all Took-y."
Oryx had been Taking civilizations for thousands of years before his defeat. Maybe millions. I forget. Is it somehow inconceivable that in all that time Oryx never ran into the Red Legion, a military force with a supposedly galactic presence? Makes more sense to me than one of Oryx's sisters Taking cabal in our solar system from whatever far off dimension they occupy.

If oryx had come into contact with the red legion prior to ttk (presumably on his way to the sol system), there wouldnt be much of a red legion for us to fight. and if there was any left, it would be left in shambles. The hive literally annihilate every race they come into contact with. Of the known races that the hive have rendered extinct are the Ecumene, the Dakua Nest, and the Taishibethi. The only reason the fallen weren't completely destroyed is that they had the traveler *slightly* backing them (as it ultimately left), and they were prepared to get the hell out when oryx attacked. Chelchis actually stalled oryx while the houses began to evacuate. We have survived the hive onslaught because we have the light as a weapon, and were able to kill four hive GODS. If we were caught unawares by oryx we would literally have been completely and utterly devastated. the only reason we were able to stop him was because the queen stalled him at Saturn, giving us time to prepare. It is highly likely that Savathun, Xivu Arath, or, in my opinion, the mysterious god Nokris have taken over the taken power. We already know that something is guiding the taken, as there is a number of taken bosses named after savathun and quria, as well as the adventure talking about something watching this dimension through the blights. so it is perfectly reasonable to believe that something took a red legion commander after the events of the red war
