I really like the different activities that were introduced into D2 that could let patrolling be a fun experience. Public events are more numerous, lost sectors are there to take on, adventures are there for a small side quest, and scannable objects and regional chests are around the environment.
But as you start to progress more and more into the power levels, all of these activities start to become worthless when you want to reap the rewards for them. Yes, there is the flashpoint to do but that's only once a week. Completing a heroic public event gives you just blue items that are way below your power level and just end up dismantling the second you get them. The same with lost sectors and you just get tokens from regional chests, high-valued target chests, and random chests around the environment. You can get an exotic engram or legendary engram from these activities but it's not enough to motivate me to do these activities.
I think that there should be a small chance (maybe the same chance as an exotic or legendary engram to drop) for a powerful piece of gear to drop. That way it can be appealing to higher power leveled guardians to try to get a higher power level. This should be the same with adventures and lost sectors that way they're worth doing in the long run. Also, I think it would be even more rewarding if the chances of getting better gear and tokens were increased the faster you completed these activities. For example, if you completed a heroic public event or defeated a high-value target in an incredibly short amount of time, you got one or even two pieces of powerful gear and 3-5 planetary tokens. That would be so much more motivating to do these patrol activities the best you can and the same goes for all of the other activities in patrolling a planet.
Also, for the guardians that love exploring every nook and cranny in the world, it would be rewarding for exploration if you were able to find random planetary tokens lying around that respawn all around the map. It would be amazing if you were able to go into a room in a building and find a token on the floor or on a bookshelf. There could even be tokens that are called ancient tokens that have been there for awhile that give you more reputation when you turn them in.
These are just my ideas that I think would improve the patrol areas for guardians who are at the end game.
