You didn't lose any content. They changed it and put it back. The amount of whining over misinformation on this forum is laughable.

  • What I'm 'whining' about is the fact this is a thing at all. Nobody complained, nobody got offended, nobody even drew the parallels before it was announced by Bungie. Perhaps what you should whinge about is the misinformation rather than those who hear it. The Bungie tweets regarding the gauntlets are where the "removed" idea came from, so take it up with them for announcing fake news rather than anyone who responds to that.

  • You have no earthly idea what kind of feedback they got on it. Not. At. All. I'm not whining about anything. I'm stating facts. What you said is misinformation. They did NOT remove any of the game content. They changed it.

  • What I said is what Bungie said. Don't blame me for their words lmao And are you seriously suggesting someone was mortally offended by something that vaguely looked like the word "kek"? Literally the only people who would be offended by that are the same kind of people who instantly take to twitter and start a shitstorm about it. Nobody cared.

  • It was the literal kek symbol, not just a look-a-like. Bungie stated this in the weekly update. Why do people care either way? Oh no, not kek. Oh no, they took my precious kek.

Not quite 'literal'... https://cdn.arstechnica.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/kek-800x342.jpg What bothered me about this is they had to shut the servers down for a few hours to fix this total non-issue. Felt like a huge waste of time, both mine and theirs

  •
The design in question was initially created as part of gear foundry explorations in June of 2015. Graphic designers routinely reference real world art, iconography, typeface, and other design elements to inform the choices they make.
Your imgur link also confirms my statement, unless believe the whole symbol must be included. If they had a swastica on the armor, but didn't include the flag backdrop, what would be your opinion on it? . If they dedicated the whole 4 hours to just the gear set pieces, I would think that's overboard, but it was just an addition to the patch.

I'm not certain what you're saying there... It's demonstrably not identical and the article you quoted says it's drawn from other sources. That would mean it literally is a look-alike. As for the swastika thing, personally I'd be fine given it's a fictional future almost wholly detached from our history, and the swastika happens to be a simple geometric design that has seen numerous unrelated recursions throughout global human history. But I know what you mean; however it must be pointed out that a fake country entirely about memes is a bit different to a totalitarian state that systematically murdered 15 million people and killed many more through unnecessary wars. As for the server stuff, last weeks scheduled maintenance overran by several hours because bungie were working on this 'problem'.

  • It doesn't necessarily matter that it wasn't drawn directly from the kek symbol. It just matters that the same symbol they copied was used in the kek symbol. . I do agree that kek is insignificant compared to -godwinslaw!-, but I was using an easily pictured example. (Kinda of like the example of unknownly breaking the law is explained with "you can't kill someone and say you didn't know it was the law"). . Was it really several hours for the gear? Refiguring gear seems simple.

The weekly update only seemed to mention having copied the mirrored chevrons ( > < shapes) so I'm not sure it's sound to call fair game on censoring anything using such a simple geometric element, especially one that features so heavily throughout Destiny. But I might be reading your intent wrong and I think I see what you mean, even though I disagree with removing it; it was fine at the time of creation so it ought to be allowed to stand. What happens if 2 months from now someone decides to link another new racist symbol to destiny iconography, eg a class emblem - do Bungie have to replace that too? But yeah, this week's server maintenance seemed reasonable but last week it dragged on for an extra 3 or so hours due to the extra work. I'm not part of Bungie so obviously I couldn't say why exactly, but I assume there's more to it than simply refiguring a few lines for the pieces in question

  • Hmmm
if 2 months from now someone decides to link another new racist symbol to destiny iconography- do Bungie have to replace that too?
I would say it depends. If upon look it is associated with Destiny, e. g. - Jade Rabbit, class emblems, then no. If it isn't really associated with Destiny e. g. Daito https://i.ytimg.com/vi/FSiylMRidso/maxresdefault.jpg, then yes. What makes the kek symbol different is that it was established before the gear was made public. . My position is this: if it offends people (reasonably), doesn't take something iconic from the game, and would take too much effort to replace, then it should just be replaced.
