I guess you never raided in Destiny 1 then lol. Heavy synth or special synth was a requirement for most raids. Gjallerhorn, Sleeper, or sniper rifles were all frequently required in LFG posts. I'm surprised more groups haven't already been requiring Merciless.
I will say that heavy ammo hasn't been bad aside from Calus at times.
