Pissed off landlord, now being forced to move?

I'm in the wrong

Landlord is a unreasonable nerd

Unbelievable, I pay rent every month. All of it. But because I told him I'm not going to pay him the first week of next month(due to a personal complicated situation), he told me to leave. Now I have three days to leave.. "Three days?" I tried to explain to him that he would get paid the week after. And that I would give him 100 dollars extra for the inconvenience. But he continued to be unreasonably. Do you guys think I'm in the wrong? Because I always pay. And it's just a one week delay. Nevertheless, I'm pissed. Edit: I was planning on moving anyway. But still, major bs. Also, what would you guys do?

  • Three days is most likely illegal, depending on where you live. Whether or not he has cause to kick you out for paying late really depends on your lease agreement. Usually there are stipulations for late charges and you wouldn't be up for eviction unless you didnt pay for whatever agreed amount of time. But, that may not be the case. Read over your lease and your local/state laws. I'd be pretty shocked if three days is acceptable. However, you might want to consider the cost of lawyering up and fighting this compared to the cost of simply moving on. Sounds like your landlord is a bonafide asshole and this would probably only be the beginning of the trouble. I'd take photographic evidence of how you're leaving the apartment in case your landlord tries screwing you over on your deposit, which I bet he will.
