Seeing This A Lot

So far I've seen a lot of "this isn't the way I want it, therefore it should be changed". Or "D1 was more like this, therefore it should be changed". And I completely and wholeheartedly disagree with this way of thinking. D2 is a new game and Bungie has opted to bring new things to the table. That includes different mechanics as well. The mentality of a player, imo, shouldn't be "change this, I don't like it". But rather "ok, I see that this is different, how do I strategize/ accommodate to win?" Part of the fun of a new game is figuring out all of the nuances in order to build your play style/ strategy. I think that looking at something at face value, like "I lost that game and saw a lot of 'this' going on" and immediately thinking that something is broken or wrong with the game, is the absolute worst thing you can do. On top of that, "exploits" are fun too. Finding what's strong in certain areas and utilizing those resources effectively to win is a crucial part of being a good, competitive gamer. David Sirlin touches a lot on this in his book "Playing To Win". (Strongly recommend it). Those will come and go too. So finding the next best thing keeps the game and meta changing and fun. TL:DR - stop complaining at every turn, and learn.

  •
Part of the fun of a new game is figuring out all of the nuances in order to build your play style/ strategy.
This is the main issue. Bungie removed most of the player choice from the game, so the Playstyles that you can build have been reduced to: Team-shotting with auto rifles Team-shotting with scout rifles Team-shotting with pulse rifles Team-shotting with hand cannons Praying for power ammo Most of the ways that people love to play are gone It feels to many that in the quest to make an E-sport, Bungie forgot how to make Destiny

    • Ok. So there is 1 way to win Destiny 2 PvP games: teamshotting. Teamshotting is the lowest form of applied player skill that everyone can muster. Even an retarded ape could teamshot if you gave it a controller. Ergo: Destiny 2 PvP does not need skill to be played. Animals and therefore humans play to simulate possible real world situations to have experience if such a situation should occur and therefore up their biological fitness levels. They would more likely survive than individuals who did not simulate such a situation beforehand. Teamshotting needs no simulation. It is already built in to anyone. So there is no value in playing Destiny 2, not if you want to become a better player. If you are what is commonly called salty and want to teamshot others as a team of 4 because maybe you cannot beat them in 1v1s, then you can get some joy out of Destiny 2 pvp. But who wants to be that kind of person?

      • Nah. There are a few valid issues with Destiny 2 that are worth pointing out. Such as getting rid of 6v6, PvP devolving into an awkward teamshot slog, taking away a lot of the nuances like perk rolls and the variety in subclass traits, etc.
