The unknown. The rest are problems that can be solved, or inevitabilities that can be accepted. You can never prepare for that of which you have no understanding.
English
-
Fear of that which you do not understand is easy to do away with. If I was to fear anything, it would be the well-understood.
-
The danger of the known is mitigated by our ability to put ourselves in a position where we are best able to face it. Why fear death when it is inevitable? Why fear harms that you can actively fight against? Anything you understand, you can cope with in one way or another. Only the unforeseeable, the unknown, leaves you no course to take in defense.
-
With understanding can come fear. Why fear death? Perhaps people fear death because they understand that it is inevitable. Why fear that which you don't understand? It might be justified, but it could be silly. The first response should be curiosity, if perhaps coupled with caution. I don't fear the dark; I fear the man brandishing a knife at me in a dark alley.
