- Nitpicking is defined as focusing on the smallest/minor mistakes. - Rational or Irrational thinking, basing facts with a lane term of what is facts. Everybody nitpicks, however it is how often to how extreme nitpicking becomes in our daily lives to the point where you are over critical to how full of shit you are. Although an opinion on the stance of the matter it is fair to say, nitpicking is either ignorance or knowledge on whatever subject it may be. ----------------------------- Prime examples of nitpicking: ----------------------------- [Top 10 list]: You see these videos all over the Utubes, you are hooked into the idea of the stuff you favour: from shows to characters and games/movies. Take one look in the comment section... there will always be one person who believes this or that "deserves" to be #1 on the list. Maybe because they have foot fetish or maybe they have only seen 1 out of 10 of the shows presented. As always nitpicking comes into play, with comments flooding about how the list is full of shit and biased. EVERY TOP 10 LIST IS BIASED, the user has an opinion of what is considered "top ten" in the form of a list. ---------------------------------- [Reviews]: Reviews are primarily based on nitpicking, focusing on the small details to point out the minor mistakes. However, it all comes down to WHO is reviewing. Do you believe in their thoughts and opinion or did you simply fall for click bait. There will always be that one individual who constantly focuses on the positives, as they do not what to insult or give an honest constructive criticism over the subject. As they care and value their reputation to the point where they "sell-out", by companies paying them to give a good review in exchange for their dignity. Then there is the honest review, the one majority of the community hates as they focus on the negatives because it is clear the negative DO outweigh the positives. Regardless, the positives do exist however it is overruled by those minor mistakes. People become nitpicky and valued the positives over the negatives. ------------------------------------- [Opinions]: A good example of nitpicking in the forms over opinions is "Batman v Superman": Batman wants to kill Superman so badly, because he believes and seems him a threat to humanity as the destructive events of his presence. It is fair that Superman should be considered a threat. However do you come to a conclusion to end his life based on the one aftermath of his existence? Batman believes so, just as he said even if there is a 1% chance that he may destroy the world he should take the opportunity while he still CAN to kill Superman. And we know how crappy the movie was... This is irrational thinking, Batman in the movie has become old and jaded, broken his one ultimate rule in favour of being right. Complete disregard for the 99% if it's there. If Batman was the real Batman whether in the Comics/Tv Show/ Dark knight, he would have played it smart. Trying to understand this Superman, figure out what his true intentions are rather than jumping into a conclusion. He nitpicks how Superman has the capacity and the capability to destroy the world however fails to acknowledge what he HAS done while he is not destroying the world. --------------------------------- Conclusion: The cure to ignorance is knowledge. It is best to think before you speak. Consider the outcomes before you act.
