Ashes of the lost Ch2:

The Fallen charged, firing wildly. I closed my eyes, and lost myself in the stormtrance. I felt a wave of Arc pass over me. I opened my eyes, and smiled. I flung my hands out, obliterating the first wave of Fallen. I let it all out, the anger, the fear. I channeled all of it into trance, sending it out in swath of destruction. I blinked around, harnessing the Ionic Blink. I jumped around, dodging Arc blasts. Fallen, after Fallen disintegrated into nothing, as I blasted Arc energy out of my hands. I gave one final push, and scorched the rock face, sending the Vandal who been sniping, falling. He landed with a thud on the ground. I quickly fired my pulse rifle, ending it. I heard a shuffling noise from behind. I spun to find that five Fallen had survived and were now approaching. I charged forward, rushing towards the Fallen. I flung my hands out in opposite directions, sending the first two Vandals flying like rag dolls into the rock walls. The next Vandal took a swipe at my head with his shock blade. I dropped low and slid under the blade, barely avoiding losing my head. I jumped up immediately. The Dreg on my left swung a shock dagger. I sent a small blast of lightning into the blade, stunning the Dreg. The Vandal on my right swung a shock blade, clipping my right arm, just below the shoulder. I spun and sent a strong energy blast into the Vandal's chest. It slumped over, smoke rising from it's chest. I turned around and fired my shotgun into the first Vandal's chest. He dropped, and I spun to the final Dreg. It was just recovering from my stunning blast. I clocked it over the head with the butt of the shotgun. I turned and walked away, leaving the bodys behind. The Dreg stumbled to it's feet, reaching for it's shock pistol. I generated an Arcbolt grenade and tossed it over my shoulder. The last thing the Dreg felt, was the tingle of the scan, then the burn of the explosion. As I left the mountain pass, Teresa appeared at my shoulder. "I'm worried about you. You seem to take dark kind of pleasure in killing Fallen. And your brain waves have become increasingly erratic." She said. "You worry too much. It's just a way of releasing tension." I replied. "Don't think you can lie to me. It's not about releasing tension. It's about her. This is your way of taking revenge for what they did." Teresa accused. I gritted my teeth. "This has nothing to do with that." I said through clenched teeth. "Fine, whatever. But I'm you continue like this, I will have to talk to Saladin." Teresa said. "You have no right!" I turned angrily to her. "I have every right. As your ghost, it is my responsibility to take care of you, and I don't like where you're heading." She said. "Fine! Fine." I raised my hands in surrender. Teresa's shell twisted upwards in a kind of smile. I laughed gently, and continued walking. I looked up as I mounted a small rock. "Teresa." I said, staring off into the distance. Teresa looked up, and gasped. Far off, a pillar of smoke rose into the sky, it's dark shadow covering a large portion of the forest. "Get the Echo. We'll need it." I said. Teresa wasted no time, transmating me up to the Echo. I grabbed the joystick and pushed the throttle to maximum. The Echo rocketed forward. In no time, we reached the source of the smoke. A small village was burning. Teresa transmated me down. I slid to a stop, as I took in the scene. The village was in flames. People ran to and fro, screaming. In the center of the village stood three guardians laughing. I growled when I recognized the lead Hunter. "Vulrak." I muttered. Vulrak was a Warlord who often attacked small settlements for fun. He often sought the approval of the other Warlords. "Send a message to the Iron Temple." I whispered Teresa as I took cover behind a burnt wall. "Tell them we have a Warlord here. I need backup." Teresa nodded. I peeked over the edge of wall. Vulrak was holding a young girl, laughing at her mother's desperate attempts to rescue her. He backhanded her knocking the woman down. I growled under my breath. I vaulted over the low wall. I fired three times incapacitating the first Titan on the left. The second Hunter turned too late. I shot two blasts of Arc energy into his stomach and chest. He collapsed, writhing. Vulrak laughed. "Finally!" he said, pushing the girl to the side. Her mother grabbed her and ran. "A worthy challenger!" Vulrak finished. I response, I raised my shotgun. Vulrak pulled out a fusion rifle. "Teresa?" I said. "Yes?" she asked. "Stand by for resurrection." I said. "Will do." she replied. Vulrak lunged forward, and I did the same. The battle had begun.
