From a Year One Player Who Fell Away....
Destiny 2 will never live up to Destiny 1 for one simple reason. Nolanbot is not nearly as good as Dinklebot. I fell away from the guy shortly before Take King came out and just recently picked it up when it was on sale and my God does it feel like all of Ghost's personality is gone. Don't get me wrong Nolan North is one of my favorite VAs but Dinklebot had a certain charm and actually sounded like AI.
Dinklebot sounded like AI that had seen some sh** whereas Nolanbot sounds like a 8 year old. I felt nothing [spoiler]when Nolanbot's light turned off in the beta story mission.[/spoiler]

Memes aside, name one line that dinklebot had, except for the little light ones, that were good. The best dinklebot line I remembered was his lines in the demo at E3 2013. Peter Dinklage completely phoned in his voice lines. He constantly sounded tired and unenthusiastic. At least Nolanbot has emotion and alertness. I'd take Nolan over Dinklage's performance any day because at the end of it all, Nolan is a voice actor and a good one. I've gotten more laughs and sadness out of Nolans lines than dinklebots. Yeah sure, Nolans voice may not sound the best as a ghost but at least he cares. He puts effort in. He could have quite after the taken king just like dinklebot did in vanilla but he didn't because Nolan cares about putting in effort. I don't try to use this argument a lot because it's a really weak one, but I think it applies here. You all are seeing this through you nostalgia glasses. Go back to 2014 and look at destinys reviews. Wherever they mention the ghost, they say that he lacked enthusiasm and effort. Id take Nolandroid over Dinklebot any day of the week because I like his voice acting and I appreciate his effort. I'm glad Nolan is voicing our ghost in Destiny 2.

Destiny was nothing but disappointment. That skank that you keep letting back into your life. I started day 1 got bored before vault got released and quit Came back for crota a couple weeks in. Quit after beating hard Crota the first time and getting all the guns Came back two weeks before taken for skrota. Quit a week after i got y1 triumph. Came back day 1 for taken. Played about a month. Beat kf many times got bored and annoyed a week before hardmode because clanmates wouldnt stop dancing (day emotes came out) Came back day 1 for wrath. Didnt even bother with raid got bored havent played since. Supremacy was only fun thing in dlc and pvp is garbage.

I know there was a lot of...whatever...about that wizard/moon line, but I never really understood why they replaced Dinkladge. I thought he did a fine job.

I liked Dinklage for the lower voice. I also quit before they replace him, but I didn't buy it later like you did. So I'm hearing Nolan's voice in D2 for the first time. Dinklage had the better voice. However, he really, really phoned it in. He didn't care. It reminds me of the 90's when they would get a big time celebrity, that would also phone it in.

6 RepliesDinklage was fine, but the script sucked. Nolan was also fine, but the script still sucked. I'm trying to keep an open mind about Failsafe, and Nolan in D2, but so far I'm not overjoyed. In the end, they could drag Wayne June into the sound booth and it wouldn't improve a bad script.
