True. You could do huge mechanic changes in Destiny 1. Destiny 1 is a piece of software... you could technically do anything to it. The story mission hints at a campaign far better than anything Destiny has offered including the Taken King... but we will have to wait and see if that momentum carries. The beta was limited and I don't know what things like Lost Sectors and actual missions on patrol will add to the experience, but I think the exploration elements will be better than Destiny 1. I have never been of the mind that sequels should reinvent. I am a firm believer in iteration. The beta has doubled my excitement for the game even with the hint of trepidation about pve balance. I don't know how to explain it to you. If you didn't feel it, you didn't feel it. I think Destiny having the best "shooter feel" is still alive and well and I personally think it feels better in D2 (though many clearly don't agree). The art is still on point, the gunplay is still on point, the pvp is better, the story missions are better, things not present in the beta like guided games will do a lot for the community IMO. I can't wait to do a raid where there is a strategy other than everyone having a shit ton of sniper ammo and standing in one spot shooting a barely moving boss in an oversized crit location... just sayin.

 • It get it. I'm just trying to understand how people can be excited about this Beta. I was totally disappointed. I totally can't concur with you on PvP. It looks like they put ZERO effort at all into it. How hard is it to make weapons weaker and slow down charge rates? lol. I'm supposed to be impressed with two weak primaries instead of one? O-kay. The maps looked the same as well. There's no right or wrong with opinions. If you like it, it's cool. I wish I could. Destiny 1 meant a lot to me.

 • it isn't just about weaker weapons and nerfed cooldowns. It is that it all comes together to form a great experience IMO. I have always had a soft spot for a great feeling competitive environment that emphasizes map control over reflex (even though I'm not even outstanding at them or anything). I also feel that Destiny 1 was always held back by unbalanced weapon loadouts. I truly felt there was usually a "right" answer and playstyle wasn't really a thing at high level content. Destiny 1 was special. It will be tough to top the impact it had on me as well. But I'm also not expecting it to. I'm expecting it to iterate. In doing so, it will make some decisions I love and some I'm not on board with. I will play Destiny until I don't enjoy it. (though if you truly did not like it, I think you should vote with your wallet)

 •
It is that it all comes together to form a great experience IMO.
Well, that "experience" has already been done.......and better. Halo.
I also feel that Destiny 1 was always held back by unbalanced weapon loadouts
Balancing a game like this only hurts it. Abilities and supers are what made it great and different. Jeez, I can get gunplay focused PvP games anywhere, and from companies that do it better. Besides, it WAS a loot based game. Why would I want to grind for gear when it's weak and like everything else? Doesn't make sense to me. Now, if they had some separation from PvP and PvE, then you could do it and satisfy most people. They still could though........but will they.

 • I was actually talking about PvE when I stated unbalanced weapon loadouts. I played more PvE in D1 than I did PvP (because it was the way better half of the game). I always enjoyed the first run of a raid when people were experimenting a bit... but it always turned into a sniper fest by round 2. Bungie needs to find ways to make standard weapons more fun, diverse, and interesting to use. They need to find mechanics that don't turn into 6 guardians sniping the shit out of a non-moving target for 15 seconds during the "dps" phase. More importantly, they need to find a way to emphasize having a mix of loadouts on the team. This strike did NOT do that. which has me worried. But just making the change alone means that Bungie has to think about how to accomplish this in PvE. I sincerely hope they can figure it out, especially in the raid. So I am excited because in my opinion PvP is noticeably better. I would agree that Halo is a better example of what it accomplishes, but it doesn't come with the connected experience that is Destiny. Destiny is my multiplayer game. not one of them. Though the strike has me worried, the mere change of the weapons has me excited that Bungie NEEDS to find answers to the loadout issues that I personally thought was the biggest thing holding Destiny 1 back.
