What the heck are you talking about? Did you actually play it?
The mechanics are virtually identical. So primary weapons with burn now occupy the secondary slot instead of the primary. That's a nerf, not a new mechanic. So existing secondary weapons now occupy the heavy slot. Again, a nerf. So Strength, Discipline and Intellect are not built into all gear and instead replace certain armor mods with reduced effect. Again, a nerf.
Crucible, Story Missions, Strikes and Raids? All existing game types. The enemies? The same. The voice actors, characters, classes, gear slots? All the same. Please name for me one thing that's actually new- and keep in mind a new Crucible "mode" was released with TTK, that's an expansion level change, not a fundamental change to the game or its mechanics.
I suppose there is ledge grabbing. Woo hoo.
As to "different abilities", 90% of them are existing abilities, either directly ported, or reskinned and shuffled around. Warlock has hammer instead of Titan, and gets the Defender's Bubble Add on Effects (heal or increased damage) as a standalone "new ability". Hunter gets Shadestep, an existing ability, on all kits but with a giant cooldown. Sure there are some actual new abilities for Titans, a shield instead of a bubble for example, but if they choose 1 of 2 total options that ability gets outright replaced- by the old bubble! They also get to build a small wall or big wall, the only "new" ability that is actually new.
Were you fooled by the reskins into thinking the Arcstrider is somehow different from the Bladedancer in a way more meaningful than the removal of invisibility effects? That's the most significant way in which the abilities are different- in their absence. Not just in terms of reduced subclasses, but the defender for example now kits into his base kit from before, and lacks the orb generating prowess he once had. The Warlock solar based kit, on a class with the keyword "recovery", is most notably different from a combination of their previous kit and the titan hammers in that it lacks the ability to self res, which is what really made them unique and gave them a meaningful PVE role.
You're interpreting a game with nerfs to every aspect of itself, with vastly reduced character choices, and very, VERY few meaningful new ones, and with a game which is no more 'different' from the previous title than its expansion was from its pre-expansion self, and interpreting that as a "new game" with "new mechanics" and "different abilities"? I would LOVE for you to elaborate on exactly what and how is so new and different about it.

100% agree, guess it is time to move on to another game
-
Well, arcstrider does have like 5 different attack combos, so that's new.

Edited by zSwabee: 7/23/2017 6:33:25 PMHaving another primary isn't a nerf. There will still be reduced cooldown perks on armor so again, not a nerf. Arcstrider is completely different from blade dancer

It's a sequel. Not a new ip. Idk what you were expecting but they're not going to scrap everything from destiny 1 for destiny 2. Because a sequel continues from destiny 1. So many games have toxic communities now that do nothing but bitch and whine about every little thing. Go play something else that isn't absolutely perfect so you can whine about it. I'll be having fun playing destiny 2. That's what video games are for. To have fun
-
Well aren't you just a massive twat. Go play a different game if you're just going to shit on other people for having fun
-
Oh sorry, is a game that's balanced for you too much?? And btw the first story mission is better than destiny 1 and all its dlc combined. Destiny two isn't perfect but its a definite upgrade from the last.

So does that mean you signed or...

BUMP×1000

So don't buy it. Choose another game. Simple.
-
I agree with everything you said
-
Horrible kd, bad grimoire. Play d2 pvp and tell me it's the same game? Oh it'll be the same to you. Getting rekt
-
Damn. You get triggered EASILY.

Right! I call D2 beta The Master Nerf!
-
Yes but the base mechanics and game architecture were what D1 got so right and kept the game interesting this whole time. The details of loadouts, classes, weapons etc was always clumsy and never really made sense and that is what has been rebuilt for d2, which is what they should have done. D1 had some big fundamental flaws: a confused story line, poor pvp server architecture and net code, and poor navigation through the world and social integration. Everything else was bang on. So far it seems they've fixed most of those issues but we'll wait and see. I don't know what you'd actually expect from the "sequel". A completely different game? Then it's not destiny any more is it?
-
Long read but oh so eloquently put. Kudos to you, sir!
-
It's definitely not a new game it's just done worse because mlg is their goal. That is why no invisibility and why limited orb generation.
-
Why can invis make it to mlg? Sombra was able to do it.

See the result when youtuber's sheeps are allowed to post?

I literally said this nearly word for word to my d1 raid group. 4 out of 6 are now wait and see what the other 2 say after launch. (They drew the short straws)

Some things are different compared to destiny 1. But from what I've seen of the beta so far I like. I'm going to buy the full game because I want to have fun. Video games are for having fun. I don't think changing my special weapon slot will prevent me from having fun. Also it's a sequel, not a new franchise. You are wrong if you were thinking everything would be completely different for a sequel
-
I didn't think everything would change. Everything is watered down for pve and it's not very fun anymore. You shoot a few times and have to hide. Standing your ground is no longer an option as you are killed by anything that breathes on you. Ammo drops are still fairly scarce which makes you feel like you are playing a survival game. All 3 classes are so squishy now it's not even funny. Red bars can kill you almost as easily as you could kill them in d1. That being said, I'm glad that you like it. Without people who do like it I will never know if it changes for the better because I won't be playing. If it does get better for launch make sure to post about it. I will be looking out for the posts and watching gameplay vids to see if they make positive changes to pve. Pvp is fine for me but I primarily play pve so the changes have turned me away for now.
-
I don't feel like pve is harder, from the one strike and limited gear we have. Ammo is pretty scarce but they said they've already increased drop rate for all ammo and even certain enemies are guaranteed to drop power ammo. Overall the gameplay feels similar to destiny 1 which I loved. The story seems to be improved for the opening mission. TTK is a bit high for me in pvp but we'll see if that changes. But yea like I said I just want to play to have fun. I'm having fun playing the beta and it got me hyped for the full release. I was worried about some of the changes before playing but after playing it doesn't seem bad. Doesn't seem like a big improvement but definitely not a step backwards. But like I said, it's to have fun. It seems like most communities are always negative about sequels. Titanfall 2 had a lot of salt during the beta but seems really positive now for the full game

Edited by TheDoctorBDWLF: 7/23/2017 10:55:50 PMI don't think it's harder, I think it takes too long for everything. Running, jumping, falling, reloading, grenade throwing animation, super animation, grenade charge rate, melee charge rate, super charge rate (even after picking up orbs), killing red bar enemies (10 body shots or 4 headshots, really?), health bar charge rate.............. The list is long, you get the point. I don't want it to be easier because that is ridiculous. I just don't want to feel like I'm doing everything underwater, in space, you know, space water. Like I said, please enjoy and post about the experience I am hoping that it changes for the better but I can't bring myself to play at launch based on the experience I had playing the beta.

You're not wrong
