I want to like it I really do but I just feel, meh.
Weapons are pretty bland, almost everything so far feels (and sounds) like a test weapon. Supers an abilities don't even exist. Bungie is literally snuffing out everything that made Destiny fun. It's not just the TTK, it just feels painfully slow an heavy. Even supers are underwhelming, not to mention the charge rate. You wait the entire game for ONE super and it's dull. Watching the nova bomb crawl in slow motion across the map comes to mind.
An you know something's not right when even the BETA 1 day in has a meta. Seriously?
I do like a lot of things on the PVE side but I still feel like the weapon system doesn't fit. I was fine doing the first half of the strike with two primaries, but the boss battle was just ............ ok let's chip him away with our lack luster primaires... wooo, look out more mobs! I can't help but think about the grind ahead of me an how much into D2 I'm going to get before I'm so over primaries I'm actually missing Destiny's current meta (Which I hate). Homecoming mission was excellent.
I know it's just the beta but it feels like we are all underpowered clones of each other which makes it so much more bland. I feel like we went from complaining about meta and sweaties to everyone getting a participation award for being special Destiny snowflakes. Shutting down a OP super use to feel rewarding now they are so weak you get no rush at all. You can either easily run away or just shoot them to death.
Oh hey an I love seeing 4 titan walls on a point, or shooting at a group of blinking warlocks standing in an aura. Meanwhile my Hunter twirls like a 4 year old ballerina 1 step to the right... to reload my own weapon. Nothing like being the supposed fastest class who brings nothing useful to the party. Yay.
I'm trying, I want to give this whole lie.. I mean fresh D2 start a chance but I'm just not feeling the Destiny rush.
I'm just gonna say it, I miss House of Wolves era Destiny.

You know it's a BETA yet you are confused/worried as to why there's less variety in a BETA as opposed to a game with 3 content expansions? It's a BETA! You're not going to have the best weapons or gear in the freakin' beta. Also the arcstrider has been great, a shade step that instantly reloads your weapon is amazing and very lethal if timed correctly. If you know it's a beta stop complaining about it as though it's the full release.

Ok relax buddy, actually read the post before you get triggered an hit that reply button. If you consider Titan and Warlock class abilities they have a TEAM benefit. Hunter class ability does not. Judging from what Bungie has told us and what we are seeing in the BETA, PvP feels very TEAM oriented and PVE has always been TEAM oriented. Yet one class got a ability that does nothing to support team play. I'm glad reloading your own weapon works for you but it doesn't really do much for the other players on your team. That's all I was pointing out. I don't know if your to busy fan girling over Arc strider to notice but you can see the same problem with the "Destiny meta" arising in this very limited BETA, which to me is a bad sign. I've never been one to complain about the meta but I feel like the constant nerfs and balance changes in Destiny really made it overall less enjoyable. I hate to see D2 start on the same path. Bungie asked for feedback, so did OP. I'm giving my opinion on what I did or didn't like and why. I'm not "comparing lack of beta variety to 3 years of content". After playing for almost 3 years, I'm reminding Bungie what I liked about Destiny and why I still play it. I feel like in the beta everything is underpowered and sort of losing focus on what made Destiny unique in its own way and fun to play. I hate those CoD vs Halo debates, it's called DESTINY 2, not Halo 2.0, or space cowboy CoD. Expecting D2 to feel like Destiny doesn't seem unreasonable. My "worry" if that's what you want to call it, is that in PVE I'm going to get burned out on primaries in boss fights. If you plan on Bungie making a bunch of OP primaries that feel like heavies or specials then what was the point of changing the weapon system in the first place. My other "concern" is longevity, with the beta being so bland and abilities taking so long to charge and being so lackluster I'm wondering if I want to spend $ and invest time in D2. Will it hold my interest, will grinding for gear and loot feel rewarding if everything feels slower and nothing really feels powerful. If I wanted to just complain I would have pointed out how many times I got a moose error or the inconsistency of hit registry, but I know IT'S A BETA. This ended up being long so you probably will reply again without actually reading it. So if your going to skip to the bottom let's just agree to disagree and you can save your copy paste reply for another thread. :)

Pretty good call here bub. I am feeling pretty much the same way about the beta. Frankly I am a bit disappointed. Looks like Bungie made changes just to say that they did. Was there a problem in the old weapons system???

I feel like the weapon system change was more to balance PVP. It just doesn't feel consistent or fluid with the PVE side of Destiny. Nothing substantially differs about the D2 strike from a typical D1 strike so I can't make sense of the weapon system change in PVE. It just makes it feel even more grindy, couple that with the poor recharge rate of abilities and supers and it just sort of gets dull very quickly.

Lol Yes a major problem Look at D1 crucible now, it's disgusting

It's not all about PVP, some people actually care about the PVE side too. An yes current Destiny PVP is at its worst, agreed, but the weapon system change does feel like a bizarre way to balance out the PVP side of Destiny at the expense of the PVE side.

Mate no argument here, first D2 mission is awesome and makes me so excited for pve. As d1 is so old, the pve is pretty boring now so I only focus on trials as it's fun. As soon as D2 drops the grind in pve starts and I can't wait. The start of the new strike, the place looks awesome and I love the improvements. And your totally right, pve should not be affected by pvp at all.
