I don't think the story ie. The traveler in jail, is why supers take forever to get.especially considering were skipping the beginning missions where we reconnect to the light. And while it's nice that abilities aren't being spammed , the damage is low and recharge time on things like grenades, is extremely high. I understand being tactile with your abilities but too often you can do everything right and still be left high and dry because of these long cool downs. It encourages passive gameplay Which Can be some what boring to fight against and makes comebacks significantly harder due to there being fewer ace up your sleeve moments. not to mention the struggle for solo players vs teams well increase.
It just seems that bungee is being overly cautious with abilities, especially supers, and the entire destiny 2 system shows that they found balancing destiny 1 to be too much of a problem and this is their first attempt to creat a system that makes balancing easier for them.
