"Humanity's greatest flaw is that we believe we are always in the right."
"Some of the most precious things in life are often the hardest to take. The one exception is a life."
"It is the fault of man to confuse balance with goodness. All the evil in the world is merely a reflection of all its good."
"The ancestors of wrongdoers should never bear the burdens of their predecessors. A boy should pay no more for his father's crime than his neighbor."
"Being creatures forged from nature, we will always be slaves to that nature. As such, we will always be at odds with our attempts to be civilized."
Okay, beware my last one. Those who are sensitive about religion, turn away now.
"If God created mankind in his image, and man is capable of great evil, then what does that say about God?"
The last quote sounds like something I would say
-
Why shouldn't we suffer for the transgressions of our ancestors? Regardless, we do. The sins of the father are paid by the child. A simple example, children suffer the mistakes of drug addicted parents. By the way, that's what the Biblical quote is really getting at...not some literal transmission of adultery or murder
-
The last one doesn't work since we were a true image of God before sin but now it is a broken image.
-
How could they make the first sin then?
-
God gave them choice so they could choose good. God chooses good because he hates evil. God had to give man choice so they would be like him and those chose evil and therefore broke their image of God.
-
They sinned because they disobeyed God
-
I wasn't asking what a sin was
-
How can they be blamed for sin without "knowledge of good and evil?"
-
Because religion is shit at explaining stuff and it's easier to shift blame
-
Like...it's cuz Adam and Eve were Jews?
