It was a great movie, I thought the scene where Vulture answers the door on Peter was very well executed, cause I never really saw it coming. It got a huge "OH" from the audience in my theater, and that's not something I've experienced in a while. I'll relate that to Liz being black, I don't think the effectiveness of that scene would have been possible if the love interest character was a pale redhead. Peter Parker in previous Spiderman films has fought villains that were the parent of a close friend. People can bitch about it being progressive, but it's important to note that 1) Liz was never MJ to begin with, and 2) it's functional for how you experience the movie the first time through. Also, Flash not being a generic jock was refreshing.

  • How does having a black love interest make it more impactful? Shes only black not a space alien

  • Wasn't expecting the black character to have a white father, that's really all it is. I think I may have seen it coming if the character was Caucasian.

  • Same! The whole theatre freaked out a bit. I got a laugh from the person next to me my whispering, "No one sees the multiracial family coming." I liked the choice. I think it was a great choice as it both played into all the themes and tied them together. Yes, yes it was.

  • How did you feel about Dong Lover? I think he was wasted talent, but the part he did play was really great.

He was great in his part and I look forward to seeing more of him (he'll probably be like the Happy/Falcon/Warmachine/etc. until his cousin, Miles, gets introduced) but I wish he was Miles Morales instead. That said, I also look forward to seeing who is casted as Miles.
