It was an alright film, but if Tony Stark wasn't the worlds worst dad and just had a 5 minute conversation with Peter, the entire plot wouldn't have happened.

Yea but Tony being anything other than world's worst dad would be quite out of character
-
Yeah but at the same time, even Tony Stark wouldn't be that terrible. After the boat got lasered in half, surely Ironman should have stepped in and got rid of the criminals, not just ignored it.

That's why the fbi were there. he called and notified them
-
Stark must have known that the FBI wouldn't have helped, besides, it doesn't explain why he didn't intervene personally when he knew what he was up agaonst
-
Which is a major flaw of the film.

Yeah exactly, like the entire plot felt avoidable. I know Tony Stark is meant to be a bit of an irresponsible billionaire, but there's no way even he would be that irresponsible. If Stark acted logically in any way, after the boat at least, he would have shut down the operation himself.

I didn't like most of his scenes, especially how his mood changed so much.
-
They felt really out of character for him, didn't really feel like the Tony Stark we know.
-
Exactly. That was one of my main issues with the film.

Yeah same, I mean it was fun, but the whole plot felt a bit contrived and forced. It also didn't make sense that after recruiting Spiderman to fight people as powerful as Captain America and Scarlet Witch, Stark didn't even trust Peter enough to give him anything to do or even properly check in on him and make sure he was doing okay.

Agreed. I think I was a bit too generous with my rating of it (8/10), but overall, I still really enjoyed the film. That rating might change after another watching, but I still think it was good.

Yeah I mean it didn't stop me enjoying the film for what it was, which was a good standalone Spiderman film, but it does suffer the problem that everything in the MCU does now plotwise, the why don't you just call the avengers problem.
