It was meh. Very progressive and politically correct. Felt the villain's motives were silly. Spider-Man saved the dude's daughter and he still wanted to kill him. Also the villain did it cause he wanted to support his family, but did so by living luxuriously. How dumb. That didn't quite make much sense. Then he casually killed a man and none of his goons even cared, that would kill morale. I give it a weak 5.

  • Don't even talk political correctness. The goal should never be to make Pc sh#t noticeable. Just cast who fits the role and go from there.

  • How was it very politically correct? I mean yes it had a black love interest and there was the joke about the Washington Monument, but other than that it was pretty much completely unpolitical

  • Yeah, the villain was a bit weak now that I think about it, but I don't see how it being progressive was a bad thing. I think it worked. MJ was especially refreshing, though sometimes a bit strangely placed. I get what they were going for, but I don't think it always worked.

  • I heard the MJ character was better than MJ normally is but on your point on the movie being progressive When studios just change race they do it to appeal to people and make money, it shows they don't care about the source material. MJ is iconic for being a redhead, also flash us supposed to be huge and jacked and in this film Peter was in better shape than him tf?

  • Just some of the jokes were off putting. The "slaves built this" about the Washington monument was really unnecessary. I just don't think that's how people think these days. And then I just cringed when the girl Spider-Man liked was black. Just felt so forced..

  • I found that joke pretty funny, actually, since it was true. Also, I didn't feel it was forced at all. Could you explain why you feel that way?

  • Yes it's true, but just really PC and forced. There's nothing wrong with it, but you can clearly tell where Hollywood stands on the political scale. It was just glaring with the whole film.

  • Bubbles...if you think including black girls in this is "PC", you need to check your stance.

  • It just made me laugh and with the current political/social climate in this country you can tell how forced it was, just saying. No need to get rustled.

  • I hate it when movies change races on characters. It's so unnecessary. I thought the Flash & MJ changes were retarded.
