In this video I talk about how Project Scorpio is held back by it's CPU from running Destiny 2 at 60fps!
Is 60fps really that much better than 30fps?
Please, enjoy the video! (:
Source (at *03:00 in video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Smn_ZUGK7ZQ&t=197s
• It is so nice to see this turning into a consolewar thread again. Blame Bungie for not being willing to detach the PvP experience from PvE, seperate those and there is no problem. In PvE it won't matter when you have 60FPS and I have 30FPS, it is coop there is no competition and thus no advantage. PvP is on smaller maps with no AI so no reason to not run at 60 even on the regular PS4 and Xbone.

I'm gonna put this as simple as I can. The problem is not the consoles.... the problem are Bungie and Activision are still on the box. Take those two away and put one or two of Sony own studio with a collaboration from Microsoft and you'll have the shooter of the decade.

Cant believe the current gen cant even handle around 45fps for crucible alone...that should be possible right? Battlefield 1 looking at you.

          • The only reason Scorpio won't run at 60fps is because Bungie won't want XB1 players at a disadvantage. The Scorpio is capable of doing it, but it won't happen.

            • I really don't get all the negative videos for a console that isn't expected on the market for what? 6, or 7 months? Lots of different types of gamers out there and plenty of room for all platforms. More powerful systems just means better options no matter who makes the box. I've owned everything from Atari to pc. I'm not married to any company out there.

              • The body of your post and the headline of your post say two different things. And I doubt your video is interesting enough to warrant either.

Bungie's choice to not upgrade to dedicated servers is holding it back from being 60FPS. That combined with the fact that 90% of D2's players will be running regular ol' PS4 and regular ol' Xbox One are holding it back.

                  • The CPU of the Pro and Scorpio are nearly identical.

                    • Yes 60fps is an enormous difference from 30fps. There is no argument there. We can't say that Destiny 2 will 100% run at 30fps on the Scorpio. Bungie could make it so that PVE is 60fps on the Scorpio but it runs at a 30 tickrate in the Crucible to make it an even playing field.

                      • No the Sony and Bungie/ Activision deal is holding it back. Sony has invested a lot of money into Destiny and getting exclusive content first. Bungie will not make Xbox Scorpio they must have experience because of this

Probably not. Bungie is the thing holding it back. Implying that destiny 2 is too technically demanding to run at 60fps on the newest consoles is absolute bollocks. Firstly, it looks like a cross-gen game, like Destiny. Secondly look at a game like DOOM, one of the most visually impressive games in the same genre, running at a steady 60fps on a standard PS4. It's easier to blame the hardware than admit that you don't care to put the effort in.

                        • Weaker tec can be what holds a game back but ultimately it's down to the decisions of developers and publishers as to what routes they take create their final product is like.
