You can wrap up seeing anything that resembles year one on launch, trust me. We're going to start right where we are now, in terms of power, albeit it for good reason. In D1 year 1, we were the most powerful we've ever been(most likely done to sell the franchise/IP), the only way to go was down... when a meta appeared or certain gear was used to exclude players from taking part in content, Bungie balanced down. Starting from our current power levels, Bungie has a larger spectrum by which to change the game, and hopefully a more flexible engine that allows them to more easily add content. If a weapon type is weak, instead of nerfing its natural counter, they can simply add better guns in the next patch. My optimism is speculative, but I'm fairly certain that we won't have access to the level of power experienced in D1Y1.
