They also could have just made it one exotic that you could switch burns between, kinda like that old thing called a murmur, what ever happened to switching burns on guns?

That's what made murmur so good and it would truly make the guns exotic. They pretty much throw the quest for these 3 at you in the game but the nemesis star remains nearly impossible to get.

It would be either too-overpowered, or to compensate for switching between all elements, the rest of the gun would suck.

Besides, it's PvE, who honestly cares what you're using. It can't DPS boss, it can't store as much ammo as other guns, and the speed up isn't great. Case and point, look at raids, the stature of which anything affecting PvE should be based on. Elements don't mean dingo in raids. Minotuars use Void? HA, Found Verdict all the way. Captains using a arc shield. Nova Bomb. Or Ghally. Doesn't matter Strikes are too easy to warrant changes to weapons. And Nightfalls aren't important enough to base anything off of. One week they could be done with grenades only. And the next barely anyone can solo it. If a Nightfall wants to be hard, it won't have elemental burns on in the first place. Elements aren't making anything easy with Omnigul this raid. At most, it just puts you on par with how it normally is anyway.
