Lumen is more akin to light than cold.
the SI unit of luminous flux, equal to the amount of light emitted per second in a unit solid angle of one steradian from a uniform source of one candela.
Science for the win!

Thats all im saying lol

I thought of it like a winter day, it is cold, but the snow reflects the light in ways that nothing else does. Consider everest. It is very cold, yet it reflects light with the snow so well, you need uv blocking goggles to not go blind. So cold does not mean that there isn't light.
-
Never said it meant that. This seems like a cold based subclass. Frost or arctic etc something alone those lines. Would be a more suitable name
-
Cold is more of a theme than anything else, it doesn't necessarily mean that the 'Lumen Light' is actually cold.
-
No idea what youre trying to say. If his subclasses are based more off of a cold theme then lumen wouldnt be a great name. Lumen essentially means light.
-
All of the classes of Destiny have a relation to a fundamental force or Light: Arc, Solar and Void being related to electricity, solar radiation and gravity. I just thought of Lumen as a name and went with it, going on to imagine pure Light alone as cold and icy like space itself is. It may not be scientifically accurate, but not a lot in this sci-fi MMO RPG is, is it?
-
Im aware about light bud. Beta player here and i know all the lore. Void isnt gravity. Its void. Very different. You can read about what makes void in the grim. Im saying having a cold or icy theme could just be named something other than lumen which essentially just means light anyway
-
Void is described as light from a collapsing star in Destiny subclass lore.
-
Well, if you read the top of my post you'd see that the whole idea is based off of light in its purest form, so why not name it after something surrounding light itself?
-
Well light is generally warm and all encompassing. So having powers that are cold based is kinda backwards. A new void subclass i could see getting cold based powers. Cold usually saps the warmth from things the way void essentially uses peoples life force as the driving force behind it
-
Well, in a universe where a massive space ball can terraform moons and people can fire collapsing stars at foes, I think it's acceptable to have cold light, despite what general opinions of what it is like are
-
And in a sci fi universe where things like that can happen there are still things that abide by certain rules and whatnot. Solar subclass has fire based stuff. Arc has lightning. Void has void. If you look at any light source it generally gives off heat as well. Its energy. No light is ever really cold
-
Its not a general opinion either. The game follows somewhat an established path. On sunsinger we dont throw icicles at people for a reason. We are solar based. Having powers that are cold based wouldnt be simply light. It would imply a more elemental class like the rest.
-
The thing is the light in its purest form is what brought us back to life. When we concentrate the light we made subclasses. When the first golden gun was created it was after a ghost had imbued someone with light and they focused it into a golden gun.

Wouldnt the 4th subclass be decay or something? Although idk how that could be light. (except that the poison visual effect lights up alak-hul like a lightbulb)
