Christianity as a whole is definitely not tolerant, but they are better than Catholics. Tolerance would imply being accepting all other religions, sexual choices, or personal choices.

 • They do though. First John 4:11 is one hell of a verse, you should read it.

 • Do what...tolerate other religions, yeah...no they don't.

 • Yes they do. Jesus had a whole parable about tolerating pagans called 'The Good Samaritan'.

 • Right...must be one of the new version where they rewrote half the Bible.

 • Do you even know what you are talking about? The Good Samaritan has had the same moral across all translations.

 • In a book that talks about killing (and a lot of it), and to top it off talking about putting to death those that do not follow the "word of god", the bs you're going on about was probably more recently added. And no, Christianity as a whole is not tolerant...but they are more so than Catholics. There may be some splinter groups that are more accepting (although will still try to convert to what they believe as the only true religion), but it doesn't change history nor facts.

 •
In a book that talks about killing (and a lot of it),
The Bible addresses the world, and there is much death in the world.
and to top it off talking about putting to death those that do not follow the "word of god",
You clearly don't understand that where you got that quote from was from an Old Testament law, which was nullified in the New Testament.
the bs
Calling something bs just makes you look dumb.
you're going on about was probably more recently added.
It was added in the New Testament.
And no, Christianity as a whole is not tolerant...but they are more so than Catholics.
This may be the single most idiotic sentence I have read on b.net, and I am being serious. I just went through a whole two posts describing how and why Christians are tolerant, yet you are still closed off to the fact. To make matters worse, you claimed that Catholics were not Christian. Just because they have rituals that are not biblical does not mean they don't believe in Jesus.
There may be some splinter groups that are more accepting (although will still try to convert to what they believe as the only true religion), but it doesn't change history nor facts.
Methodists have been shown to be the most peaceful denomination out of all Christian sects, although this may be coincidental. Your opinions don't change the facts either, bud.

 • New testament, that's the problem right there. Most don't even know the actual origins of the Bible to begin with, then they go and change things to better suit them. It would be fine and dandy if it wasn't spread around as truth and history. To top it off, in my experience Christians haven't been too keen on my beliefs...usually I'm told I'll burn in hell, but I guess that's considered nice since they aren't stoning me.
then they go and change things to better suit them.
That is an idiotic conspiracy theory right there.
It would be fine and dandy if it wasn't spread around as truth and history.
You would rather have lies?
To top it off, in my experience Christians haven't been too keen on my beliefs...usually I'm told I'll burn in hell, but I guess that's considered nice since they aren't stoning me.
Nowhere in the Bible does it instruct anyone to say 'burn in hell'. Your logic is severely flawed.

 •
Just because you don't know it's origins doesn't mean others don't.
I do, but I highly doubt you do. Here's a hint, not written by Jesus...in fact it was written approximately 300 years after he died.
That is an idiotic conspiracy theory right there.
Hardly, why don't to go check how many different versions of the Bible exist...go ahead, I'll wait.
You would rather have lies?
Saying it's history and fact is a lie.
Nowhere in the Bible does it instruct anyone to say 'burn in hell'. Your logic is severely flawed.
Never said it did, but strangely enough Bible thumpers seem to think if I don't accept Jesus that I will end up there.

 •
I do, but I highly doubt you do. Here's a hint, not written by Jesus...in fact it was written approximately 300 years after he died.
How can you tell that? Also, it is quite simple really. The New Testament was written almost entirely by Mathew, Mark, Luke, John, and Paul.
Hardly, why don't to go check how many different versions of the Bible exist...go ahead, I'll wait.
There are many, and would you like to know why? It is because Latin is very complicated and different scholars have had different translations.
Saying it's history and fact is a lie.
According to what?
Never said it did, but strangely enough Bible thumpers seem to think if I don't accept Jesus that I will end up there.
It just so happens that everyone that doesn't accept Jesus ends up in hell, but there is no reason to shove it in your face.

 • First off the Bible was originally constructed of multiple stories by a group under Constantine's order. It was put together so there was one religion under his rule (basically it is all about control). These stories were from many different religions in the region at that time. Everyone was to convert to this new religion, which was probably an bloody change for many. Besides this many stories were changed, wether to better suit the ideals, or flow of the book, many of the stories had been changed. Fast forward to today and between the original translations, rewriting in new ideals (people copying a book so they have their own tends to change things at times), translations from one language to another, and the whole old testament/new testament/new King James versions and you get a book that is definitely not historically accurate. The Bible is definitely not fact nor is it history, it was a book written in allegory to guide one through life. It is not an instruction manual on how to live...as most believe it is. Last time I checked any other book on mythology in other beliefs isn't spread as fact...so why is this mythology different?

 • Well it seems you know a little history, but not really enough. Christians were considered pagans by the Catholic church, because they had split off and did not follow the Catholic teachings.

 • Yeah it kinda does...especially considering they are two very different religions. Honestly it would be like saying Catholics are Jewish, or Mormons are Christians, or apples are in fact oranges.

 • Catholicism has the Bible The rest of Christianity has the Bible with a few things removed. Catholics pray to Mary and the Apostles since they are believed to be in Heaven, and thus can speak to God directly. The other Christians don't, as they feel praying directly to God only all the time is better. Those are the biggest differences. You'll only get small differences past this point (between every denomination.)

 • Catholics launched a crusades killing people for territory. Catholics formed a governing body. Catholic church control who goes to heaven, hell, or purgatory depending on how much dough you give them.

 • I said it all in past tense. However their still are many people who pray to saints to keep them safe from police while they sell drugs, cut off some heads and just go in and hail mary their sins away. Sorry to be so harsh. I do understand catholics, christians, jews, and muslims all believe in the same god.
