House of Scar: Ch. 1: Misfit Kell

This series will take place in the time of the House of Wolves. The House of Scar is a small house led by the kell, Vesrik, which he is rebuilding with his crew. This story will be as lore-accurate as possible. If you want to get to all the chapters, go to the Table of Contents. I know I had a House of Scar series previously, but I have decided to have a remake. I think it is much needed, in my opinion. I hope you all enjoy! The Eliksni: possibly the most pathetic race in this solar system. The Houses? Their kells are dead because of their recklessness. Primes dead, leaders slain. Fatal attempts to bring down the City that docks. Devils have thrown water on rock with their plans so far. It has only made them a target. Solkis and Sepiks have met their demises. Winter lost their Kell, and it is well deserved. Fools should have not made themselves so obvious in the Ishtar Region. Wolves have broken their chains that the Awoken forged for them and Skolas moves, claiming to be the Kell of Kells. The Wolves are spread all across the system, already butchering dead soldiers, Awoken, and other Eliksni; they are plausible. Kings keep hiding, their Kell pulling strings. House Scar? We are the mocked ones. Mocked for how I have chosen to rebuild. I assure you, our methods are ethical. Just disapproved of, yes? "Come on, I will pay in time, yes?" I am lying, of course. Pirates are fools, I tell you. "You haven't paid for the smugglers you shanghai'd from my crew! That's theft, Vesrik, and know one steals from me." He's wrong, I never 'shanghai'd' anyone. If anything, he shanghai'd them before they joined me. "They chose to leave you, Charlie, I just gave them a place in the system." "I want my crew back, you misfit kell! Don't think I cannot make you another victim of the Bleeder!" That was Charlie's cleaver. To think this Awoken pirate has been doing this for years on this asteroid, and this is how he continues to handle it. "Charlie, I can't pay you now, but you already have a big crew so it shouldn't be a huge problem if I pay you in a week?" "Vesrik, there is no negotiation! I want my crew back!" I had him where I wanted him. Now time for the swindling. "Alright, then. If you want your crew I want something in return, though: map to the entire Asteroid belt." Charlie looked, knowing he owes me nothing. Lucky for me, the map was in a storage drive tucked in his belt. "I do not know why you believe I owe you, kell. You've pushed the limits of this negotiation! Prepare your last hour, Vesrik." All part of the plan. I clicked with laughter and drew my blade. Charlie drew his Bleeder, and I'm just happy we are alone in his conference room; he usually has his soldiers around him. Charlie tried to cut my arm off, but I quickly moved out of the way and brought my knee into his stomach. While he struggled, I grabbed the storage drive and hit Charlie with my sword hilt, knocking him down. I put on a mask that would keep me alive from the vacuum outside. I crashed through the door of the conference room, running through the hallways of the small complex. Charlie's men were chasing me through the halls, and before I could leave the complex, I had to check with communications. "Rager, get ready to open the hangar for me to board the Ketch! I got the map from that cocky idiot, and we have to keep it, so be ready for me!" One of my most trusted crewman, an Awoken named Dennis Rager replied, "Got it, Vesrik. You can't say I didn't tell you about having reinforcements, can you?" Cheeky Rager, always trying to prove me wrong, unfortunately succeeding. "I'll have you thrown out into the vacuum with that talk, Mr. Rager!" I would never do that to him, but I enjoy threatening them. I got into the hangar of the complex, shooting Charlie's guards at the door. That Ceres Galliot will do to get me out, I thought. I got to the control panel and opened the hangar door. I made a run for the Awoken ship, and four guards were in pursuit; before they could catch me, I hopped into the cockpit of the Ceres Galliot. This thing is not fit for a kell, I thought. The cockpit was small, made for an Awoken, but I could operate. I got the engines started up, the pirates also still trying to get into the ship. I cackled at their attempts as I began hovering. Two of the pirates were still hanging on to the ship. So tempting to make a jump to hyperspeed while they are hanging like that, I thought. I flew out of the hangar, the pirates falling off of the wings of the Galliot. I got back onto the comms and said, "Rager, open the hangar!" "You got it, kell!" Rager opened the hangar letting me to pass through. I let the ship down easy, still feeling extremely claustrophobic in the cockpit. I hopped out of the cockpit, stretching my back and legs. Rager approached me and just laughed at my pain. I told him, "You try being over ten feet tall and flying in that thing!" Half of my 400-soldier crew were waiting for me in the hangar. They were a part of House Scar as much as I was. Made up of Eliksni, Man, Awoken, and Exo, the House of Scar had many in its' rank and file. That is why we are mocked by the other houses, for accepting others besides Eliksni. The House of Scar was once of pure Eliksni, but now it is only a Ketch-full, with many different peoples in it's rank. "Soldiers of Scar! I went down to 15 Eunomia to 'discuss' things over with Captain Charlie. It went well, and we came to the one-sided negotiation that won us this map!" The crew cheered as I raised the storage drive over my head. I closed my fist to silence the crowd. "The map of the entire Reef, not just the Vestian Web! In my eyes, this is a large victory for House Scar. We are sometimes known as the 'misfit house' of the solar system, but we are a house to be taken seriously! Not many can say they have a detailed map of this entire asteroid belt!" My crew was very happy about this, grinning and ready for excitement. "Alright, back to your stations, the lot of you! I'm going to the bridge to take a look at this map!" My crew was a jolly one, but I worry about them. From the lowest scum, to the greatest warriors in this system, House Scar has a diversity to it. We always struggled to make it out here in the Reef, but this map is not just to help us survive. The crew of the Scarship Teriks-Syn was large and we could handle ourselves, but we have to be careful when going close to Vestian Web and facing down other pirates in the belt. Unfortunately, there's no where else to go. The inner worlds are crawling with the dead soldiers, and the unknown powers of the Nine in the outer worlds. The Reef is the home of House Scar. We are not afraid to tread the inner worlds, but we are unprepared. We rebuild here, and that is how it will be. Rager and I arrived in the bridge and got to the meeting table with the other senior officers: Zatkis and Valerie. Rager spoke, with a look of great anticipation and mischief on his face. "Alright, you scum. Ready to see what this map has to offer?"
