"Logan" Movie Review & Discussion (Spoiler-Free)

Logan is the new movie added into Fox's cinematic universe, which ties into the same universe of Fan4stic and Wolverine Origins, which as you all know, WERE ALL FAILURES! However, this movie technically also ties into Deadpool, X-Men; however... This movie has NOTHING to do with this, and I think it's a good thing. Starting off, I'll give a brief preview of the story, though I will refrain from spoiling.
In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
As this preview states, Logan and Xavier are at the point that they really just do not care about their own lives anymore. When a young mutant arrives, Logan and Xavier take up the responsibility of looking over her. *SPOILERS; Don't open unless you have seen this movie or do not care to see this movie.* Spoiler Summary:
Where are all the mutants? The answer is, they are all dead. Logan and Xavier are the last remaining X-Men and really the only two mutants, though we do meet another mutant at the beginning. Logan is a taxi driver, and he has resorted to drinking and drugs to keep him going, and he has the job to afford the medicine he needs for Xavier (Illegally). Eventually, he meet a woman that needs help, though he declines. This lady was looking after X-23 (Laura) who was a mutant made 12 Year Old made to kill. Laura, was made with Wolverine's DNA, resulting in Laura technically being Logan's daughter. After the last mutant was created, X-24, they began killing the mutants as they have perfected what they were trying to achieve. The lady Wolverine meets helps the children escape and she begins taking care of the young Wolverine (X-23). Logan's need for the drugs for Xavier shows. Xavier hallucinates and forgets, but worst of all, he has seizures that freeze people in place, yet they can still look, feel, and be moved. However, Logan has the power to be able to move through this (Though it causes intense pain). Eventually Logan meets the lady with X-23 again, and he reluctantly decided to help her, come the morning. Sadly, he makes it there and she is dead. Logan forgets about it, but upon making it back to his home, Laura snuck home with him. So, a very bad dude comes over and tries to capture her, fortunately, she is more than capable to save her self and she takes out many men for herself and her, Xavier, and Logan escape. Logan finds out that she is indeed his daughter and he has to reluctantly look after her. Laura is very rabid and acts mute the first half of the movie. Eventually after making it to a hotel, Laura sees that usually kids hold their adult figure's hand (This will play a part soon). The bad dudes catch up to them, and while Logan is downstairs, Xavier has a Seizure and Logan can catch up to the bad dudes aiming at Xavier and kills them, and successfully stops Xavier's seizure. They quickly leave and find shelter at a farm with a father, mother, and son. During the dinner scene, Logan and Xavier talk as normal humans and it shows the down to earth and human aspects of these mutants. As the water goes out, Logan/the father go out and fix it while Xavier and Laura sleep upstairs. Throughout the night, Wolverine comes back into the house and goes up to Xavier, Xavier mentions how he doesn't deserve this day and that he is the reason the original X-Men are dead... As he looks up to Wolverine, he realizes too late, and Wolverine stabs him in the chest. An angered Laura attacks Wolverine, but he wins and kills the son and mother, after the mother shot at her. Shockingly enough, the Wolverine is NOT Logan, it's X-24, an exact copy of younger Wolverine in his prime. The father and Logan run inside, but the father is killed. Logan has the choice between the girl or Xavier, and he chooses Xavier; He runs up and tells him that it wasn't him that did this. Logan lies down Xavier, and he sadly dies in his arms... Logan is pissed. Him and X-24 fight, but ultimately Logan does not win. Logan is dying the entire movie, his healing factor is broken and some wounds don't heal, so now he has been diminished down to nearly nothing. Luckily the father rans X-24 into a plow, and takes out X-24 now, but sadly collapses onto the ground. Logan takes Laura and goes and buries Xavier and Laura holds his hand. Logan collapses after beating up his truck with a shovel, and she takes him to the hospital. He then finds out this girl drove him here and she spoke Spanish/English! He agrees to take her there, but he passes out onto her lap and she takes over driving. They make it to the meet up for the mutant kids, and Logan heals for a few days. The day before they move out to Canada (The safe haven), he hands back the money to oldest kid, which he originally planned to get in order to take Laura here, she confronts him about it in the barn and this ensues: Logan: "Everyone I care about gets hurt, and I can't let it happen again" Laura: "Then I would be fine" He wakes up to the children gone and he sees the bad dudes catching up to them. He uses all his power in his limp to run, but he can't so he injects all of this fluid that COULD kill him in order to gain back his strength. He runs at full speed (Like a cheetah) and does his final badass moment of Wolverine, he kills many guys and saves Laura. However, they must save the others. The power fades, and Logan gets right to the point taking out the Doctor and wounding the head mercenary, which gets killed by the younger mutants. X-24 comes back, but ultimately beats Logan... Logan uses the rest of his strength to help the kids escape, but Laura will not leave, sadly, X-24 is stronger, and he throws a dying and bleeding wolverine onto a tree stump where it pierces his body along with the many claw wounds to his body. However, Logan has kept a bullet with him made of Adamentium, this will kill himself, or anyone with his DNA as long as it is lodged into the head. Laura holds onto it after she finds it in his pocket, and she uses it to shoot X-24 in the head, allowing her to help Logan. No matter how hard she tries. She can't help him. This is the first time Laura has lost her straight face and shown care and begun to cry for Logan as he dies. (Logan is talking about being a dad). Laura: "Daddy! Don't go! Daddy!" Logan: "So... (Smiles) This is how it feels.." Logan dies there. Laura gives a speech. She buries him, still crying over her newly found dad... She ends the movie by changing the cross into the "X" Position cresting the most amazing end to any franchise ever.
Spoiler Review: (Short Segment)
The ending was emotional... It was heart wrenching, and this movie shows that Fox can make a serious and dark movie. As far the deaths go, they were very fitting and very sad... They were all necessary, and I did cry at the end.
Review: (No Spoilers) The movie was amazing. It has perfectly used Hugh Jackmen and Patrick Stewart to the best of their abilities and they stole the show. Dafne Keen who played X-23/Laura did a FANTASTIC job, which is a relief as child actors generally suck. The acting was all good, however the villains weren't the most notable other than that many were standard throwaway characters, but the main enemies were very well written along with the plot twist enemy. The writing was all well done, the graphics, the action, and the story. This is truly the most satisfying Superhero Movie we have had, it will rival Deadpool and Civil War, but this movie is completely different. Remember everyone, this movie is a human like movie, and because of that, it's dark, real, and emotional. This movie is amazing, and you SHOULD not expect a hilarious and explosion filled movie, in fact there is only one explosion in the entire movie. Go into this movie expecting a sad, heavy, and impactful movie with amazing characters that feel the pain like we do. Don't expect explosions and a happy ending, this movie IS a tragedy. Because of that, I will give this movie an: A+ 10/10 I know, this is my first movie review and recommendation, but I wanted a GREAT movie to kickstart my posts as a movie reviewer. Thank you all for listening and let me know what you thought of the movie, and please let me know how you feel of recommendations towards movies?
