Introducing: The Flat Earth Destiny Arsenal! Weapon #1. "Rowbotham's Spear".

Weapons are what make Destiny great! Which one of us year one players can't help but look back on the glory days of Gally and Thorn with a wistful sense of longing? Each of us loves certain weapons more than others, and we have all imagined new ones, daring to share our ideas with the community. As a Planar Theorist (Flat Earth Theorist) and avid Destiny player, I am going to take the plunge and share my own ideas for weapons and armor. But be warned: each one will reflect a part of my own imagination, as well as the ideas and facts that I feel to be an important part of my worldview. As such, each weapon or piece of gear that I conceptually suggest will have a name reflecting some facet of Flat Earth Theory, along with perks inspired by Flat Earth physics in the real world. However, I understand that some of you feel that Flat Earth Theory is completely unrelated to Destiny, and out of respect for that sentiment I will post an explanation and description of the Flat Earth principles underlying each piece of gear in a spoiler at the end of each post. As a Planar Theorist, Destiny and Flat Earth realities are inextricably interwoven. But I don't want to force my understanding of the natural universe down your throat, thats why I am placing the core of my ideas in the spoiler. Anyways, I hope you will enjoy and gain a better understanding for those of us that are part of the Planar community. Here is the first. There will be more to come. Thanks! The Flat Earth Destiny Arsenal #1: Robotham's Spear Sniper Rifle Weapon Description: For behold, I sit atop the hilly plane: from whence the enemies of reason flee in fear. Exotic Perk: Coriolis Rejected: Bullet trajectory slightly curves to track enemies. Penalty to aim assist. Kills greatly increase reload speed. Notes on Weapon Stats: The tracking perk would be offset by a smaller mag size of 3. This sniper would ideally pack a good punch with great range, although rate of fire would probably need to be below medium with stability slightly above medium. Given the effects of the exotic perk, reload would need to sit at below medium. Flat Earth Conceptual Background
Samuel Rowbotham was one of the key founders and intellectual giants of Flat Earth Theory. As early as 1849 he eloquently argued against the scientific establishment of the time. In 1881 he published Zetetic Astromomy: The Earth Not A Globe, one of the most compelling works (even today) for Flat Earth Theory. You can find a free copy here if you are interested. In one of his notable achievements Robotham showed that no curvature exists on the horizon. Using the Bedford Canal (a long water way that extends perfectly straight for miles) he measured a friend in a rowboat that steadily rowed away, demonstrating that at no point did his friend "disappear" over the horizon. You can read about the experiment here. The exotic perk Coriolis Rejected refers to the inaccurate spherist idea that the rotation of the earth causes storms to rotate differently in the northern and southern hemispheres respectively. Spherists also claim that the coriolis effect influences the trajectory of bullets due to the supposed spin of the earth. But this has an obvious problem: if the ground rotates beneath a bullet, why doesn't it rotate beneath you when you jump? Or a helicopter for that matter? Why cant planes flying west reach their destination sooner as the earth rotates beneath them?
