You had me until the *sigh* usual Rezzyl Azzir nonsense. Yes, Shin Malphur is still alive and not super happy about all the Yor fanbois with their Thorns. Can hardly blame him, after all, Yor did burn his hometown to the ground and kill virtually everyone he knew. But, and ffs I'm getting tired of pointing this out, but Rezzyl Azzir is quite obviously a Titan and Dredgen Yor is a Hunter. There is both a cloak and hunter artifact named after Yor, establishing him quite convincingly as a Hunter; Every single other class item and artifact in the history of the game that is named after a specific guardian is assigned to the class of the guardian it is named for. So no. My guardian has been to the Moon too. Maybe I'm Dredgen Yor. edit: feel free to throw all the shade at me you like, lol, I'm a big boy, I can take it. I may have been wrong but this card doesn't erase all the plot holes.
Moderator edit: This thread has been updated with tags that are more appropriate. • But didn't Dredgen wear the cloak of a hunter he killed? In theory, the Cloak of Dredgen Yor could be a cloak from one of his victims, not necessarily his own cloak. Also, the inability for us as players to equip other class items doesn't mean that it couldn't happen in the fictional history of the characters. One last thing: Saladin wears a cloak.

  • Whoopsie, you're wrong. It was confirmed, Rezyl is in fact Dredgen Yor.

  • However, if you look at the grimoire cards, there is a picture of a warlock wearing a hunter cloak weildig a gun with resemblance to thorn, as well as script to describe him as a titan.(can't remember the name look around at lore with xyol). There is sufficient evidence that dredgen was all three classes. He also saught the knowledge of the hive, which is a warlock trait(thirst to understand)

Um, no. The warlock is on the Thorn card and is not wearing a hunter cloak. The hunter on the TLW cards is wearing a hunter cloak. And if someone wanted to argue that Yor was or became a warlock, I would be more open to that because of the picture and the thing about searching for knowledge. Nothing about him screams "Titan", it's people drawing a line that doesn't have to exist simply because they want to know his identity and will grasp at any potential connection as inevitable fact. Rezzyl Azzir met Xyor. Xyor is part of the original Thorn quest. Dredgen Yor uses Thorn. Therefore the only possible explanation is that they are the same person? I guess by the transitive property I'm Dredgen Yor too because I killed Xyor back in Y1.

  • You can say what you want but you can't say anyone's wrong because Bungie has never and will never say anything. As far as I'm concerned, Dredgen killed Jar Head and Shin Splints killed Dread Head. Shin is special because he has light but isn't a guardian (he never died and got rezzed) and Dredgen was once good but is now dead. Shin also killed Dredgen with Golden Gun.

  • But what if the evil of the hive convinced him to change? After all, the darkness is portrayed as swift and deadly, and if it corrupted him, why not change him too?

  • Dregden yors class was never confirmed. In the grimoire, the wizard Xyor tells Rezzyl he will fall to the Darkness and whatnot. Also, Dregden wore the cloak of a fallen hunter (pahanin) although it was not originally his

  • Falling to the darkness can be interpreted many ways. Like death or being evil. Damn, why can't Bungie just give us a straight answer?!

  • People keep saying that, he stole his cloak and wore it, but yet nobody can provide a link to prove it.

  • Look at the cloak of Dregden yor flavour text and the Legends and Mysteries Reyzzl Azzil card. We can assume that Reyzzl fell to the darkness after his conversation with xyor, became Dregden yor, killed Pahanin, and took his cloak and possibly artefact.

You can assume a lot of things if you want, but the flavor text says nothing about taking anyone's cloak.

  • We know Pahanin was a hunter, and there is plenty of evidence that yor is rezzyl azzil - a Titan. Is it coinidence that Pahanin is mentioned in the flavour text of the cloak of Dregden yor? I think not.

  • Yor was a titan simple as and the yors cloak thing did you not just read he killed a hunter and took his cloak making it his own before you go saying only hunters have cloaks check out Saladin and yor ruled crucible shaxx and Saladin both titans so it would make sense yor was too

  • No, I actually didn't just read that because it's not anywhere in the grimoire or game. Yor took Pahanin's light, not his cloak. And still everyone just totally and conveniently ignores the artifact....

  • It's a shame really because other than the class mismatch it's a perfect match. Xyor the Unwed was the wizard that you had to kill to get Thorn in the Year 1 exotic bounty. Perhaps the Darkness has the power to change a Guardian's class... ... And think about it, if you were an agent of the Darkness, what class would you choose to dominate the crucible... 😎

  • SMH. Or, you know, maybe there is more than one weapon of sorrow and Necrochasm was made from Rezzy Azzirs AR and we now have the origin of both without silly class switching shenanigans and some stupid twist ending where everyone is secretly someone else.

  • I wasn't aware of the Rezzyl/necrochasm connection - can you reference the grimoire card that says this? I know Thorn isn't the only weapon of sorrow but it's linked to Xyor the Unwed so that's a good connection between the two. And that she sets in motion a slow corruption that will gradually take effect... Everything fits except the class (and that Rezzyl didn't have a "rose") My first thought is that one of Bungie's lore writers cocked up! It might be that Xyor made both Rezzyl and another Guardian victims - perhaps we'll see further instalments.
