The Nintendo Switch Has Already Failed

The Switch will likely succeed.

The Switch will do okay and survive for a while.

The Switch will likely struggle to thrive.

With the Nintendo Switch being recently revealed, I had high hopes for the console to really succeed where the Wii U had failed. However, after watching the reveal, I have been left quite disappointed. I have taken the time to write down some points on where I think Nintendo has gone wrong for the second time. As much as I'd like to see the console succeed, I have a hard time believing that it will due to Nintendo's latest errors. Feel free to read it and share your thoughts on why you think it will do well or poorly. • I think that meanwhile it may struggle in the beginning, partly due to the initial lack of games for it, once things pick up and we get other games available for it, it will likely become more successful due to the fact of how easy he transition is to go from console with TV gaming to handheld gaming. The only thing we may need to watch out for is the battery life while it's in handheld mode, if it only lasts for a couple of hours, sure that might last during some journeys but if you're travelling for the most part of a day or longer, it's gonna be a problem. Especially if you're playing big games like skyrim and Zelda, you're not really intending to only play for a couple hours at a time and you certainly don't want it to die in the middle of a session. The only other thing I'm a little wary of is that they're intending to make online, a paid subscription service. Sure it might be reasonable once there are bigger multiplayer games but that's still be dependent on pricing... if it's like the pokebank then sure I can get behind that cuz it's only about £4.50 for 365 days. However considering online use for the 3ds and such is currently free, what about those kinds of games if they'll become accessible on the switch? Like Pokemon sun and moon, I've heard there's going to be a somewhat spin off for the switch called Pokemon stars and if it's anything like the main series of games then we'll definitely be wanting to use online features for trading and battles, unless exclusives may be offered to incentivise paying for online, I don't see why we'd suddenly have to or want to pay for it when it's currently free now.
