Triple Threat Titans 64- It's About Bloody Time part 2
Part One
*Again, JJ's View* We left for Venus. Headlands, that’s kind of a wasteland. Two paths, left or right. “Which way do we go?” I asked. “Let’s see here, what way do we want to go?” Chase asked. “Hey JJ, what hand do you write with?” Blake asked. “I think I’m left-handed,” I replied. “Let’s go right,” Blake said. “Alright, then. To the right we go.” So, we went right. We wound up in a depressing ruins of a Golden-Age city. Rusted cars, crumbling skyscrapers, and of course, Fallen. I punched a Shank in the face, spun around and scoped in, pulled trigger, then scoped out. The Vandal fell dead. “A 360 quickscope!” Blake yelled, “THAT WAS AMAZING!” “Blake, you’re too influenced by Shaxx,” Chase sighed. “Shut up,” Blake replied. We forged ahead. I turned to the big statue of a winged woman holding a horseshoe. Immediately, another memory had returned. And I regret coming to Venus... “Not that memory. Not that memory,” I muttered. “Not that memory?” Chase asked, “I thought-- Oh yeah. Ha ha ha ha! You remember that? Your luck must have been soured since then.” “What memory? I’ve never been to this area of Venus,” Blake said. “You weren’t there!” Puma laughed, “You wish you were there!” “Anyway, while Delphi was syncing the sparrows, and there was a legendary engram. So I dared him to lick it with his eyes closed. He did. As if that wasn't hilarious enough, he ran to the acid ocean and drank from it.” Blake was rolling on the ground, laughing. Fallen began to shoot at us. Blake ran up and punched each and every one of them. I heard a purring noise next to me. Then I heard a snarl. Chase wasn’t aware. In fact, out of nowhere, a golden-orange puma goes up and tackled him. His helmet was knocked off. “Ah, great,” Puma muttered. Blake had his hand on the handle of his Hammer which was clipped to his belt. I aimed at the puma’s head, waiting for Chase to yell. Chase rolled over, got up, and dusted himself off, “Tigeress, that was not necessary.” I lowered the pulse rifle, “What the heck?” “Before I found Chase, I had resurrected a puma, which for some reason, had abilities. Now, she’s practically adopted Chase,” Puma explained. “I guess the giant housecat can tag along,” Blake said. Tigeress snarled. “Do you want arc-charged claws in your chest?” Puma asked. “No,” Blake replied. “Well then, don’t call Tigeress a giant housecat.” All of that from one snarl? I wondered. Chase picked up his helmet, and put it on, “Onward?” “Sure.” We skimmed along the Ishtar Cliffs, which was a battleground between Fallen and Vex. I pulled the trigger, sending bursts of bullets into vandal’s heads. Tigeress zipped here and there, sinking claws into a goblin or dreg. Blake, was doing the stupidest thing I’d ever seen. Apparently, he he had this rocket launcher, and he lured captains and Minotaurs into melee range. Then, shot his foot with the rocket launcher, killing himself and everything clustered around him. Ridiculous, yet effective. Running on, to the Waking Ruins, we saw a giant round door in the cliffside. A platform of Vex Tech in the middle. Above it a white 3D rectangular prism was weaving itself into reality. There was a circular plate to the right, with a white barrier above it. A Titan and a Warlock were defending it from minotaurs, goblins, and harpies. Ahead of us was a narrow strip of land rising above the valley, with another plate. A Warlock and a Hunter were defending it. Finally, there was a third plate in front of the giant door. A Hunter with neon green boots and a Titan were defending it. Those neon green boots stood out to me, for some reason. Maybe because I’ve seen them before… “Should we help them?” I asked “It looks like they got it under control,” Chase said. As if on cue, a Minotaur stepped into one of the white barriers, taking it down and rebuilding it in red. The rectangle faded away. Our Ghosts changed comms channels, and there was lots of yelling. And cursing. But whoever was yelling-- an exo, I guess-- their voice sounded familiar. “Okay, so I guess they do need our help,” Chase decided, “They choked on the right side, Blake you had the unbroken streak, you’re obviously going right.” “Got it,” Blake said. He went off to the right. Immediately, he lit the area with Hammers. “They need cover on the left, you can play defense, right?” I asked Chase. “I prefer to be defense.” He went in the same direction as Blake, because that was the only way to get to the right platform. I just went middle and picked off harpies, hobgoblins, and goblins with my sniper. Tigeress helped out when she could. Driving praetorians into walls. Mauling goblins. The Hunter at the plate tapped my shoulder, “JJ, you better let Sarah know you’re okay.” I nodded and continued sniping. I didn't who he was talking about, or what he meant by that. I just knew I would regret not knowing. The rectangle finally completed and a beam shot to the top of the door. The fireteam ran in, but the Hunter with the bright boots nodded in my direction. He seemed so familiar, but who was he? I might never know. To be continued…
