Fireteam Ashen(3): The Tower[Part 2]
Looking for a different chapter? Here's the Master Post.
"...And this is Rahool, the Cryptard- er, I mean Cryptarch." Avesk said. Validus watched as a Guardian brought a glowing purple object and handed it to the Cryptarch, looking hopeful. A moment later, that hope was crushed when the Cryptarch handed the unfortunate Guardian a blue rifle. They continued on and headed to the left down a long corridor which opened into a large hanger. Small jumpships occasionally flew in and landed, before being lowered into the depths of the tower. "This is the Tower Hanger. Here, you can find the bar, the Tower Shipwright, Vanguard Quartermaster, and emissaries to Dead Orbit and the Future War Cult." Avesk explained. Validus raised a eyebrow. "Why'd you mention the bar first?" Avesk looked back at him, slightly confused. "It's the best part of the hanger. Why wouldn't I list it first?" As they drew closer to the Shipwright, the two Guardians could hear some shouting. After investigating the sound they found an Exo Guardian arguing with the Shipwright. "But I'm a Guardian! Protector of the City! I need a ship!" The Guardian protested. "I already told you," The Shipwright put her hands on her hips," I can't give you a ship unless you have Glimmer." "How can I get Glimmer, if I don't have a ship to do missions?" The Exo asked. The Shipwright shrugged, "Not my problem," she said. The Exo stalked off, grumbling to himself. "Sucks to be him." Avesk said. He tapped his chin thoughtfully. "You know, I bet I could get you a ship for free." He mused. "That didn't work out for the other guy. What makes you think that you can pull it off?" "I have a way with women." Avesk sauntered up to the Shipwright. "Hello, Amanda. Looking as exquisite as ever." "What do you want, Avesk?" She asked bluntly. "Right. So, I was wondering if you could give one of your ships to my friend here." Amanda raised an eyebrow. "For free?" she asked. "Not totally free," Avesk explained, "I could definitely make it worth your while." "Oh? And how's that?" "Well, I was thinking that a date would probably suffice." Avesk replied. "A date? After what happened last time, why do you think that I would even consider spending time with you?" Amanda fumed. "I told you, it was an accident!" "Right. Sorry, but you're going to have to pay with Glimmer like everybody else." Avesk turned and walked away, dejected. Validus jogged to catch up with him. "What happened between you two?" He asked. "I don't want to talk about it." Avesk grumbled. They continued around the Tower until the tour was interrupted by the loudspeaker. "Would Avesk please report to Cayde-6? It is urgent." "Uh.. I'll be right back, Guardian..." Avesk jogged back to the Hall of Guardians. "Good news," Cayde chirped as he approached, "I found another new Guardian for you to mentor." And standing next to him was the same Exo from the hanger. Avesk glared at Cayde. "I hate you."
Click here for the next chapter
