Bungie has nothing new on it. It is not affecting everyone though, not saying it's not a problem, just that certain router brands and or setups may be avoiding the problem. My wife and I play together on the same network and we have not had any of the issues so many other have had with doing so. Below is my setup. It may not help you but hopefully it will. I have a linksys e3500 router. Both xboxes are hardwired to the router. Both xboxes have been renamed from their default names and have static IPs with DNS set to match what my router is pulling from the modem and default gateway set to the router's IP 192.168.1.1. (Cox Cable ISP) mine and my wife's Xbox static IPs are 192.168.1.10 and .11 DHCP is enabled on the router and addresses start at 192.168.1.50 and I only have it set to allow 15 devices at the moment. ( this should be irrelevant as the consoles are set to static IPs) Mac address clone is disabled IPSec, PPTP and L2TP passthrough options all enabled(this should irrelevant as it relates to VPNs but it is what I have set for VPN purposes for my job) UPNP is enabled DMZ disabled. SPI Firewall protection is enabled Filter Anonymous Internet Request is enabled Filtetr Multicast is disabled Filter internet Nat redirection is disabled Filter IDENT (Port 113) is enabled No web filters are enabled. CTF (cut through frowarding) is enabled QoS not in use. Up/down: 7.1/74.2 latency: 42 Packet loss: 0 Like I said this is the setup I have running and we have not had any problems. This may or may not help, hope it does.

  • You have a, what I would call a "custom" router as in you went out and bought your own router than using the one supplied by the broadband. I use the one supplied by the broadband as I dont have the money to go out an buy another. I have done practically everything you said that this router permits me and it hasn't worked. Its pissed myself my boyfriend and our friends off so much we just gave up and continued solo. Just fed up with it now. On occasion it make slip and let him into our fireteam. But yester he couldn't even join our friend who's on a different house and network. Like I said. I have tried everything within my power. Its now down to bungie to fix what they said they were going to fix.

  • My ISP doesn't provide a router, just a modem you can buy or rent from them. I purchased both my router and modem 3rd party. Got the router from Walmart, it was about $90 but there are cheaper versions like the N750 that would do to. Modem, I got a slightly better model at a cheaper price online than what my ISP wanted to sell the lower end model to me for.

Unfortunately some combo routers, especially gateways, cause issues with gaming. Our provider (I used to work there) had the same issues with certain Cisco combo routers and had to either swap these out for a different brand we had at the time, or have the customer go back to using a straight modem + their own router. Destiny wasn't the first game to see things like this happen, and it won't be the last. In fact, when XB1 first launched - no console could play together in the same house hold initially. There were security settings that MS built into the console to help safeguard it that caused issues. An update a couple of months later, to the console itself, eventually fixed it. There is obviously some piece of the pie that is not getting through on certain types of combo setups, which seem to be the main issue. Personally, I will never use a combo router when gaming is concerned - at best it will be a straight-through modem - at worst, a bridged combo unit so it acts similar to a straight-through modem ... and always coupled with a high end router designed specifically for gaming.

The cable goes from the wall into a D-link splitter for the broadband and phone. Then into the router. Then into my xbox. The tplink upstairs out into his xbox.

  • What the ISP gave you is a router/modem combo. Not good for gaming in general. There are combos that combine the router and modem together, like what you have, or just a plain modem with 1 connection port. The setup would be a phone line/coaxial cable(depending on service type, dsl vs cable) from wall to the modem>an ethernet cable from the modem to the router> ethernet cables from the router to any devices you want to connect to the internet and/or using the wireless to connect to the router(wireless not recommended for gaming).
Hauwei HG633 router is what I have. It is a super router. Sooooo does that mean its a combo? :/ I am not router savvy so I wouldn't know. Never had to port forward for a game before. It worked properly before. Just got the problem recently. And right before the new event - now I wont be able to kick my boyfriends arse at sparrow racing :/
