This is an issue in raid I'm guilty of. Not sure what all the different artifacts and perks are but I use the "gloves" for releoading different weapons. It's just a twitch reaction or paranoia that more floating bots are coming. Good points noted about those gun perks n stuff. thankful to be a guardian!
