Seriously, Bethesda!?

Yet another AAA release with shit performance on PC. Isn't it convenient that Bethesda changed their review policies just before they pushed out this garbage? Seriously, though. Can we all stop -blam!-ing pre-ordering games now?

  • That's what you get for playing on a pc, some games don't run well there.

  • Depends on your rig, mine is GTX970/core i5 3.4ghz/24gig ram, I've only seen some minor graphics glitches and have not had any performance issues.

    • I mean if there are reviews out and they're good I'll pre-order a game. But yes we can and I sure as hell will stop pre-ordering Bethesda games.

      • Not sure Bethesda even made the game, but if they did, do you really think the head of development turns around to the team and says.. "Ok team! We have already made £20,000,000 (or whatever) in pre-orders! -blam!- our reputation, rush this game out unfinished! It'll be sweet!!!"

Two generations ago gamers rebelled against games that kept being pushed further and further back from thier original release date. Intrest declined and when the title didn't live up to 4 year long Hype profits suffered. Then the interweb went from being a PC only thing to being a living room console staple. This was bolstered by the spike in gaming popularity brought upon by titles like CoD with user friendly gameplay. Along the way Games became exponentially more complicated and expensive to make while gamers refused to pay a penny more then they had for the previous decade. This lead to alternative methods of revenue generation. DLC replaced Expansions and was no longer simply additional content but a way to compensate for shrinking profit margins. In addition to this it was proven that a big marketing budget resulted in higher early sales. Research also went into predicting what was the best release window. (i.e. Holiday Season for big titles and off season for riskier titles so there is less competition) Pre-orders do in fact accentuate and inflate the ship now patch later problem but it is neither the source nor the absolute solution. It's bad. But eliminating it wouldn't even begin to solve the gaming industry problems.

        • Preorders likely have nothing to do with this. They never have. The facts that the PC is likely their smallest market, the variability of components and interactions inherent to PCs, and the likely financial pressure to release on time restricting QA are all much more significant factors than preorders.

              • The publisher has nothing to do with the game besides backing it. And I think this is Arkane studios first time at pushing a port to PC?(could be wrong there)
