Lot's of you seem to be discussing the Electoral College and its process in this election. Please watch these two short videos. They're not "biased liberal media lies" I assure you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_572578&feature=iv&index=13&list=PLC1C0D3F2BA472F62&src_vid=7wC42HgLA4k&v=OUS9mM8Xbbw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wC42HgLA4k The Electoral College needs to go. Democracy is run by the saying, "majority rules." That has not been the case in America for a very long time. Added with the fact that the college only exists because of how difficult it was to run elections 200 years ago when everyone had to walk or travel by horse to the polls. Then those votes had to be taken to D.C. where the Electors would receive all of the important information and vote for the president. It's an old system that should be dissolved. Republicans need to look at this election and realize that something needs to change. More so even because you won, and the majority of the government is run by Republicans now. Just because the system allowed you to win, does not mean it should still exist. Do the right thing. Get rid of the Electoral College so we can live in a fair democratic-republic.

 • Perhaps you don't know much about this country. This is not a democracy. It's a democratic republic. Meaning this: the states have popular votes. Those popular votes get counted and thus we have a candidate "win" a state. When a candidate wins a state, the chosen representatives of said state (usually) vote for what the popular vote was for that state. Hence the Democratic, then the republic.

 • Why should states decide who the next president is? Huh? Why does Florida, being a swing state and having a lot of electoral votes be a major factor in deciding the president. I don't live in Florida. Most of the country doesn't. It's funny how some Trump supporters are willing to defend the Electoral College because it helped them win. When, in reality, if Hillary won the way Trump did, Trumpers would be up in arms about the Electoral College. Way to go people, I can see you truely care for this country. Smh.

 • Do you, by chance, know why the electoral college was brought into being?

 • Because voting 200+ years ago was difficult so Electors were made to gather votes from their respective states and vote in Washington. Also, because (I forget who) thought that the College would protect the government from a president "that is not qualified". Hm. Who does that sound like?

 • Actually, you're only half right, it was to protect from what they called "tyranny of the majority". Interesting concept. And actually, a lot like Hillary.

 • So your saying that the most densely populated cities and areas of the united states, who are all voting mostly Democrat because there's more minorities there is fair to the rest of the country? For example if one city in the whole US held 50. 1 percent of the population, should have more say then all other states combined? No that's not right.

 • So you're saying the five people in Montana could have the exact same power in deciding who the president was as a city with millions of people? (As an example) That's stupid. Why should 5 people decide how millions should live.

 • If there were 5 people in Montana that would be stupid way to vote.

 • Yes. . . because that is where half the country would live. . . they would decide who the president is because a majority of the population live there. What are you talking about? I don't see your point at all, and your point makes no sense. If the United States has 50.1% of the population in one city and they all voted for one candidate, that's absolutely fair. A majority of the population voted for a candidate. I don't see the problem. Did you even watch the video?

 • The point is that one city or a few cities doesn't represent a whole country's views and beliefs.

 • And they don't. If you watched the video you would know that a majority of the population doesn't live in major cities. And thus the electoral college being dissolved would not be affected by hiw cities vote.

 • But the majority of Democrats do live in the cities. And the cities with the most electoral votes at that. If the majority of the country isn't located in cities and Hilary won a fraction of the states that trump did then how do you explain Hillary winning popular vote? Unless the majority of voters are in cities which are populated by minorities who vote Democrat.

 • How corporate of you. Ethics? Morals? Logic? Reason? There are many reasons. Unfortunately, Republicans seem to be against anything that changes the writing of a 250 year old document. Especially now, becuase it has benefited them in 2 recent elections. The writers of the Constitution couldn't foresee the future and technological advancements. Not abolishing the Electoral College goes against the democracy and everything that Americans hold dear.
