Under Trump's plan—at least as it's written (more on that in a minute)—the federal government would offer tax credits to private investors interested in funding large infrastructure projects, who would put down some of their own money up front, then borrow the rest on the private bond markets. They would eventually earn their profits on the back end from usage fees, such as highway and bridge tolls (if they built a highway or bridge) or higher water rates (if they fixed up some water mains). So instead of paying for their new roads at tax time, Americans would pay for them during their daily commute. And of course, all these private developers would earn a nice return at the end of the day.
Just what my commute needs. Tolls, subject to price increases on a whim, designed to pay for the road, and make some asshole a profit, rather than a portion of my taxes just paying for it at cost.
Remember, unless you walk, you don't get to opt out of this. You could have to pay someone just to leave your house.
Trump has one thing in mind and one thing only. Help his bottom line.
Enjoy being scammed.

Remember when the government screws up you pay for it and no one gets in trouble. Down here in Louisiana the roads are garbage. So they have a big project to "fix" them. They will employ the same workers who are bad at their jobs to fix their work. Private companies however would face penalties and disciplinary actions and may even be fired. So the private company has an interest in doing a good job. The government couldn't give a shit.
