Terrible, terrible servers.

I for one am lagged off destiny servers at least three times a day. Its the only game that does this shit besides halo 5. Bungie, youre wonderful, but the next major update needs to be 100% focussed on fixing the horrible, unstable servers. Anyone agree with me or are my friends and I the only group of people who cant ever make it through a stike, crucible match, or raid without losing connection to destiny servers? Really hope this post gets enough attention for Bungie to recognize a problem.

  • This is often mistaken for issues with your wifi. I used to have this problem early in year 1, but since then have gotten a new router. To the best of my memory I haven't "lagged" out once since getting the new router.

The thing with destiny is it runs different ports than most games because it's P2P, depending on your ISP and router it can be problematic with connections. There's three things you can do that should clear up all of your connection problems: 1 - Port Forwarding on your router. Doing this ensures specific ports on your routers firewall are kept open rather than normally filtered for destiny. Search Marionberry error or port forwarding in the help section of the destiny app/ website. It will tell you what ports need to be open or unrestricted for destiny. Go to www.portforward.com, and look up your specific brand and model of router. There will be a step by step guide provided on how to exactly open/ forward the ports for destiny. To access your router you will need a hard wired PC in your home. If you are unfamiliar with tech stuff and how to do it Google is your best friend, it's not hard to do with the wealth of info at your fingertips. 2 - Assign your Xbox an IP. Don't worry about assigning a STATIC IP to your Xbox, if you are not paying for a static IP or are unsure what that even is it won't work anyway. Give your Xbox a fixed, private IP. All this is doing is making sure your Xbox stays on the same IP address with the forwarded port settings, periodically your router will refresh IP's and this makes sure the Xbox stays on that same ported IP from your routers private pool, thus keeping it on the IP that has been port forwarded. 3 - Get off WIFI. If possible give your Xbox a hard wired connection, I know some have no troubles running wifi but in my experience it can be super problematic. Especially with all the other wifi devices in your average house today, it provides very inconsistent connection speeds and added latency. Hard wired gives you a constantly stable connection without the added latency, which is huge for online gaming. I can promise that these things will clear up almost any connection problems you are having, I know it's out of the norm to have to do this stuff in order to play without problems, but that's the way the game was written and you gotta live with it. Remember Google is your best friend, there's countless write ups and tutorial videos that cover all of these things step by step. Good luck man! Let me know if these things work out for you. EDIT - I should have mentioned this but try your Xbox on a hard wired connection first, this may be the culprit of your connection issues. WIFI is really crap. If you still have problems then try the other steps.
