Because one the 8 entered into the Siva chamber and "died their final death". "At the time we did not think an iron lord could die" I'm assuming the 100's that went to battle didnt officially die like the ones who sacrificed themselves in the chamber. The others I'd say are still alive. Much like efrideet. Like nirwen finaala, etc they prolly live with efrideet at her "new home" she mentions at the end of the new iron banana quest line.

Honestly, I think they did likely die permanently, since Rasputin most likely knows how to kill a Ghost. However, in absence of actual evidence of their passing, they're MIA/pKIA. Efrideet survived because it seems like, based on her voice and what we know, she was somewhat more of a page or squire than a full combatant. She was rear-guard and a sniper, so she might have been able to avoid the frames and such. As to why the Eight statues, it seems like those eight were the first to join forces and forge the Banner. So, in a sense, they were the Knights of the Round. The foremost and mightiest of the Lords, the first of equals, etc.

  • Yea I believe your are correct. Makes sense how the other iron Lords didn't die for good, cause we die all the time but are revived by ghost. The eight in the chamber died for good because they're ghost died with them.

  • So 100's of Iron Lords all ran away from Earth together with Efrideet without even telling Saladin? The other Iron Lords must have really hated Saladin. I know he prattles on a bit and even talks to himself at times but even so running off without telling him is really cold. Maybe he is the Iron Lord equitant of that kid back at school who was always the last picked for sports teams because he was weird and smelt like cabbage; "Quick lets all get out of here before Saladin comes back from the SIVA replication facility, if we don't he might want to come with us, quick run run run".

  • Well no one said he doesn't know. It could be just they all feel since the battle was over then why be there...all saladin does is stand and wait and trains people in crucible. He knew the siva out break would return...why didn't efrideet help?

  • Well he didn't know about Efrideet until she rocked up for this last Iron Banner and in his monolog at the beginning of RoI he clearly believes he is the last and the Iron Lords are gone, and by gone I don't mean run off with Efrideet to her hippy tree-hugger colony for Guardians that rather run away and make daisy chains than fight to regain and rebuild Earth (sounds like Dead Orbit a bit), I mean as he said "died their last deaths".
