I had 40 3ocs today, did the black garden farm, popped one after each minotaur, and the end of the day I got 2 exotic engrams (universal remote, and nemesis star) they kinda work but at this point in time I'm leaning towards they're not worth it

I've so far got zero exotic engrams by using Three of Coins in Vanguard activities. I've never farmed any boss. But I used a coin the most of the time during my SIVA Heroic Strikes and also before summoning an Ultra on the Dreadnaught. The Ultra kills definitely counted because the Exotic Particles buff was gone afterwards but nothing ever dropped. Crucible on the other seems to work. I've used a lot of coins during my Iron Banner campaign and got four (or five?) Exotic Engrams. Nothing particular exciting (without Infusion it would have been frustrating even) but that is how random drops work.

Yeah that seems like they are working about half as well as they used to. If you have to use 20 3 of coins to get one engram that is ridiculous and more than twice the amount it took prior to 2.5 update..BS I think. Because three of coins or not cheap in the grand scheme of things

Do you stack them? Because apparently someone proved stacking doesn't work

No, I don't stack them. Based on the user interface I don't believe that would work and/or provide benefits: * After you use a 3oC you get an "Exotic Particles" buff which is visible on your Guardian's page in the in game user interface. * After you kill an Ultra or finish a Crucible match the buff vanishes from the user interface. This looks like a on-off toggle to me.

Yeah it's bull, I feel like atleast 1 in every stack of 5 you purchase should drop on engram

It seems Crucible, or at least Iron Banner, works much much better. I've used three 3oC today. I used two during Cerberus Vae III which both got consumed (buff was gone after killing the Ultra) but didn't get any Exotic Engrams. Later I played one Iron Banner match with a 3oC active and got an Exotic Helmet Engram at the end of the match.

Another day with no Vanguard drops (three Heroic strikes with at least two dead Ultras). But the first Crucible match dropped an Exotic Primary Weapon Engram.
